Located on Dolores St, between Ocean and 6th Avenue, our Downtown Carmel Tasting Room is conveniently located next to fine dining restaurants, lodging, and other retail stores. Albatross Ridge Winery specializes in premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grown on our Estate in Carmel Valley, just seven miles from Carmel by the Sea. Our recent 2014 release was rated by Wine Enthusiast 94 & 95 points! Albatross Ridge was also recognized by Wine Enthusiast as one of the most Dramatic Vineyards in California.

In the early 1930's my grandfather William Hawley Bowlus began launching his one of a kind Albatross sailplanes off the ridges of Carmel Valley. Today our family carries on his avant-garde legacy farming Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on a steep Carmel Valley ridge overlooking the Carmel Bay only seven miles in the distance.

Our wines are crafted exclusively from our estate vineyared which consists of 25 acres of premium Pinot Noir and Chardonnay varietals. Our vineyard is farmed organically and we only use native yeasts during fermentation to showcase the purest expression of our wines. Our wines are aged in the finest French Oak barrels to produce dazzling wines, with seductive aromas, elegant purity, and effortless charm. Our ultimate goal is to craft wines that are age-worthy, and food friendly

This is our second time visiting Albatross Ridge and we had a wonderful afternoon of wine tasting! Jonathan was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the wines--he really made the afternoon for us. What a great relaxed atmosphere for tasting delicious wines! Thank you so much - we will be back again and again...

We loved the experience and especially their generous pours! Their premier flight was my favorite although the last two pinots on the grand flight are really good too!

Dominic was marvelous!! I had made a reservation with my aunt with minimal knowledge on red wines and Dominic was amazing in giving us tips on pointers for how to taste and enjoy wines. He answered all questions and was so sweet and patient. Would highly recommend visiting. Definitely going back!

At the beginning of our tasting a family with 3 young and not well behaved children were in the tasting room. I feel wine tasting is an adult activity and parents should leave the kids at home!!! After the family left, it was a lively tasting- good wines and the educator was excellent.
