   This visit was a huge disappointment and left us with the impression that the owners really need to step up their game. Bar staff was overwhelmed— backed up by drink orders and unable to tend to bar guests. The wait staff was frustrated and one of the servers was practically in tears because she had a full dining room and couldn’t serve her tables their drinks. An older man who I assume was an owner came down to assess the situation. He only lent a few unwilling gazes with crossed arms, then proceeded to talk on his cellphone— ignoring the fact that one of his customers tried to engage him— and ignoring the fact his staff needed help. About an hour after we finished our meal the bartender got help from someone to get checks out to the bar customers and by the time we left, that person started to help make drinks. Other oddities came to fruition when I ventured upstairs to let the host know that we had a table at the bar and to remove our reservation; he became agitated and confrontational with one of the servers. He then represented himself as the manager and couldn’t understand why I came up to let him know that we were eating at the bar. It pains me to write that I do not recommend this place. There’s an obvious lack of leadership that overflows into the climate. The food was mediocre and could use some improvement, but owners/managers really need to wake up.

   Excellent sushi!! Eating for sushi alone would be much higher. Great location if you are going to event across the street

   Sat and waited 45 mins for food (burger and brisket), was delivered chicken poutine and wrong burger. They then bought out a Cold burger. While we sat another couple arrived 10 mins after us, order similar to us and were out before we even got our food. Will not go back and won’t recommend. Very poor experience.

   If you are going stick to the Sushi, it is amazing, The other food was not real exciting, Bison burger was so tough and very overcooked. Lobster Mac and cheese was good, but spicy, so be prepared. Lobster roll was very odd and very small. The sweet potato fries were good.

   Really nice place to go for lunch and there are not many left in downtown Albany. Nice selection, really good food and kind and attentive service

   I always dine at The Albany War room when seeing a concert at MVP Arena. They have a limited menu on those nights, but still something for everyone. Last night I had the shrimp and grits which was delicious. The sushi, made fresh, is also delicious. Highly recommend!

   We booked a table before seeing the Pentatonix Show at MVP Arena. The only available reservation for 4 people was at the counter. What a pleasant surprise! The counter is directly in front of the sushi bar, staffed by Saso and his assistant. He was fun, engaging and truly made the dinner one to remember. Our server, Paula, was also terrific. Three of us ordered the sushi dinner, which was an excellent choice. The only issue was order off the dinner menu for the person in our party who did not eat sushi. Her meal, an appetizer and salad, did not arrive until an hour after the rest of us had been served our miso soup and sushi. The sushi and food were excellent. The Albany War Room Tavern just needs to have better coordination between the sushi counter and the kitchen.

    My heart broke for our poor waitress. The place was out of chicken and lobster. And lychee liquor. Three things listed on the menu that they could not serve at 5pm on a Saturday night. Owner walked around scratching his head, not helping. Not once did he clear a dish or deliver a drink. Food we did get (4th choice) was very good, but every table was disappointed and the seating is on top of one another. Sorry. Won’t go back.
