ABOUT AKIRA

The Japanese restaurant, AKIRA, presents a dining experience based on its ‘trinity of cooking’ principles - food, tableware, and presentation.

Visit for lunch, afternoon tea, or dinner to experience Japanese-style omotenashi hospitality. Highlights of the menu include imaginative sushi specialties and chargrilled kushiyaki skewers made from umami-rich wagyu beef, seafood, and vegetables.

AKIRA was nominated for Best Luxury Restaurant, Best Culinary Experience, and Best Restaurant London at the 2022 British Restaurant Awards.

We welcome diners from the age of 4. We may occasionally be able to accommodate babies, but the number of highchairs available is limited, please contact the restaurant in advance to check if this will be possible.

Hours of operation are too short Opening hours are too short closing at five. The wait staff was a little less attentive to guests calling out. But the food was good.

A regular to this restaurant but have noticed that sushi has gotten smaller, and some of the classic items on the menu have been swapped.

A lovely restaurant, beautifully decorated and with great food. The service was excellent, staff were friendly, polite and attentive! Its pricey but the food quality seems to be top! We would definitely visit again!

Food use to be alot better than this. We normally go for a special occasion as we think the food is absolutely amazing. But today was different. Potato salad missing alot of other ingredients that they use to make. The grill are no longer served in a big hot stone. The mushrooms which is our favourite does not taste the same anymore as it not serve sizzling hot. Food taste good but wont be going back anymore.

The food was excellent and we loved our evening Only comment would be that we were not allowed to take home any left over food! This is very surprised on many levels

Thank you for your 5 star review. We’re glad you enjoyed your experience at Akira. We do not have a licence to run a takeaway. For this reason, we don’t have containers and bags in our restaurant. Likewise, since we offer raw fish products, we also take into account hygiene conditions and working hard to achieve the highest food safety and hygiene standards.

I like the serenity and quality of the food. The waiter brought the wrong dish for one of us. The booking process for lunch is ridiculous. I have to out £200 on my card in case of cancellation. Barely anyone was in the restaurant - a walk in patron was treated as if she was doing something wrong. They still required a credit card when she was obviously there to eat! This type of rigid attitude demonstrates a lack of hospitality and may account for the empty room on a Thursday lunch hour. How many people don’t bother to walk in because of this type of atmosphere?

Akira is one of my favourite restaurants. Wonderful, understated food at an amazing price. Amazing cocktails and such gracious and generous service. What's not to love!! Akira Bento Box a must try!!
