Akahoshi Ramen is a humble ramen shop in the city of Chicago. Everything is made in the restaurant, including all soups, seasonings, toppings, and noodles.

We are not an authentic ramen shop, though we value the history of ramen, and our ramen is influenced by its past and its future potential. The dish, popularized in Japan after World War 2, is symbolic of both struggle and perseverance. It is both a simple dish, and a fantastically complex one that we treat with reverence and respect.

Roughly translating to “Red Star,” the name “Akahoshi” is a love letter to two cities; Sapporo, Hokkaido, where red stars adorn city monuments, and Chicago, Illinois, where the red star decorates the city flag. Our ramen is influenced by Japanese and American ideals in cooking.

We hope you will join us to enjoy a bowl of ramen, made with the respect and passion it deserves.

Ramen was amazing. One of the best in the city, if not THE best. Noodles had the perfect texture and the soup was amazing. Highly recommended...if you can get a reservation.

This is my second trip to Akahoshi Ramen, and my 4th time having ramen from ‘Ramen Lord’. It’s crazy to see how much he improves every time, yet every time, I don’t realize it needs improvement. I had the October special today, which was rich and light at the same time. The pork was more tender than I remembered it, and the egg, well, the first time I had that egg at a popup 5 years ago, I said it was the best I’d ever had, and that hasn’t changed. ADD THE EGG. The owner is kind and humble, has worked hard for many years to perfect his craft, and that’s the kinda person I want to give my money to. He was running food and bussing tables tonight. His staff is happy and his food is amazing. So happy that this place is succeeding and I hope you all get to experience it.

The ramen was absolutely amazing! We had the October special and it did not disappoint. We love the rice and chashu as well and it was delicious! Absolutely coming back and brining newbies here!

Great meal at Akahoshi - love the addition to the neighborhood. We had the Akahoshi ramen and soup-less Tantanmen and both were excellent. Ambiance was great and everyone was friendly. We'll be back to try more.
