With a passion for family and food the Lujan sisters came together to open Agave Azul Kitchen & Tequila Bar in 2012. Their goal was to bring together a gathering of authentic Mexican home cooking that stuck to their roots. Their family originated from Zacatecas, Mexico and then came to Hughson, California to begin farming. With this heritage came recipes passed down from generation to generation. Food was the center of their life and growing up on a local farm allowed their family to cook at home with food grown on their land. Sandra and Gabby originally had the thought of opening Taqueria El Agave, but it quickly transformed into a full kitchen serving some of their favorite dishes such as pollo con crema y rajas. The unique thing about Agave Azul is their attention and focus to the quality of each of the ingredients that goes into their recipes and their commitment to never sacrificing on quality home grown ingredients.

The food was OKAY.. just ok. The ceviche had too much of a tangy taste. The portion was good. Each plate of beans and rice was a separate charge. My main concern was the waitress, who, when presenting the check to me, had already checked the tip percentage amount and did not leave the choice to me. I witnessed a person with a fly deterrent flyer object that should have been offered to all outside tables. I heard about this place and tried it for myself. Been there; Done that

When making a reservation you have to provide a card number and there is a warning if you don’t show up you could be charged $25 per person. Overall they didn’t seem very customer service oriented they are more policy oriented. Didn’t make you feel welcomed. Food is overall good. Service is fair at best.

Food was fine. Service was way off. Waitress only came to take order and to give check. Never followed up on us. Never gave us silverware. I noticed this in our table and table next to us. We were always asking busboys or others for items.

Was sat right by the door that leads to the bar. Door was hitting the chair that I was sitting in every time someone walked out. Asked for another table. Was sat at a broken table (same broken table from my last visit) Took 30 minutes to get chips and salsa. Had to ask for water which was given to us after about 40 minutes. Asked for 2 salmon plates. Was told they only had 1 salmon piece left. The drinks were not as good as other times. Seems like they just threw the drinks together.

Hello, thank you for visiting us and giving us your feedback. We do apologize for the inconvenience of you having to switch tables and being changed to a broken table, we were not aware that it was broken, and we will get that fixed asap! We will be talking to our staff about the wait time as chips and salsa are usually out as soon as you get seated along with water. Regarding the salmon unfortunately we de get fresh daily deliveries from ohana seafood and once we ran out there isn't much we can do, we do apologize for the inconvenience, and we will talk to our kitchen manager about that. We will look into the drinks as all our bartenders do follow recipes so not sure why that is happening. thank you we hope you give us another opportunity!

We sat for 20 minutes before finally asking someone if we could just get a water. We had 5 people in our party. When we finally got our food. The waitress asked two of our party, “are you guys not eating”. They forgot to put in their order. The rest of us had to eat while they were making the food for the rest of our party. Good food. Service.. not so much.

It was Fathers day and my daughters bday, told the waitress it was my daughters bday, didn’t really get acknowledged much and usually they do something special, nothing was done or even said at the end. We dine here often, it was disappointing this time, especially for a special occasion.

The food is always good here. The servers seem flustered every time we come. We asked for a straw for our daughter’s water cup times. My husband ended up attempting to get one himself because we were seated outside, they said they would bring it to him and he said we never got a straw until we asked four times and waited over 15 minutes.
