Join us on Saturdays and Sundays in Hawthorn's Dining Room, where you’re invited to relax with our traditional afternoon tea menu of delicate tea pastries, dainty finger sandwiches, and oven-fresh scones to enjoy with a selection of LOT 35 Fairmont loose leaf teas.

Tea was great. I had the mint ginger. More than enough food and high quality. We packed up what was left. It was my birthday so they brought an extra treat. A Chocolate mousse cake with a sparkler.

The tea and service were excellent and the sandwiches were tasty. However, in my opinion, the scones were dry and crumbly and the clotted cream wasn't creamy and it was far too cold. Also, the sandwich bread was too thick.

I had a Vegan option. The sandwiches were outstanding! Deserts could use some improvement. Most pieces tasted plastic. Service was oustanding. Not quite sure about ambient, dark, old. Definitely not fancy 😀. But overall we enjoyed it and tea is amazing. I would recommend, but lower expectations if you try High tea at other Fairmont locations.

Very nice and elegant high tea experience at the fairmont. The service was wonderful. Rissa was attentive, friendly and helped to make the birthday event special. The tea selection was top notch. All the high tea offerings were very fresh and tasty. Cocktails were well crafted.

Make sure to specify in the comments if you have children joining or dietary restrictions/food preferences - it is not clear this needs to be mentioned in the comments when booking. We had two children with us, and, despite a message sent the night before informing them of this through the Open Table app, we were served as five adults. We were not asked if we had any dietary restrictions or food preferences, despite what the menu said about replacing anything in the menu for these reasons, and we were surprised when the food arrived right after we ordered our tea with no checks to see if there were allergies or if we needed kids items with our two very obvious children in attendance; as none of us eat salmon, this food just went to waste. When we inquired about this, we were told “the reservation was for five adults”. I received a phone call a few days beforehand asking me to call to confirm I was coming, with no mention of needing to know food preferences or if kids were part of the reservation. Because I was out of town and I believed it was just a confirmation call, I confirmed through the app the night before and sent a message regarding the children attending. For the price, it needs to be very clear when booking that kids and dietary needs/preferences need to be communicated at the time of booking. It says it below in the restaurant information but not when clicking through the reservation process. As I am familiar with the Hawthorne, I didn’t read through the restaurant information. In Ottawa and Banff, we were asked upon arrival what our dietary needs were - what would they have done if we had allergies and we hadn’t seen this message? Would they have a brought something else and the other food would have gone to waste? It needs to be clear that this information is needed prior to arrival whether in booking, phone call, or in person. There are less expensive, better experiences around the city; I expected way more from a Fairmont with this price point.

Staff was wonderful and accommodating to gluten sensitivity. The selection of teas was great and the food was beautiful and delicious.

All the ladies enjoyed the tea. The individual tea pots were lovely as was each layer of the cake plates.

The Fairmont is always an absolute delight to go to. From the Service to the Food, I couldn't give it anything less than 5 stars. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and the food was exceptional.

I had booked a tea celebrating the 110th birthday of the palliser for a time where the philharmonic Orchestra was to be playing. However we were sat in a totally different room than the Orchestra was playing so it was basically inaudible which really sucked. It was kind of loud in the room we were in and there was no menu to choose the teas from. The server came with the tea box and quickly ran through what each tea was but it was so hard to hear and she rushed through so quickly no one even knew what she said for most of them. The staff seemed to be in a huge rush, so the tea towers were dumped onto the table with no explanation as to what was what. 3 of our 4 people needed no seafood, so to have them dumped with no explanation was not only annoying, but also kind of dangerous as it was hard to tell what the seafood one was. About 5 minutes after they were dumped the server came around and did explain very haphazardly what was what. I hate to complain and I normally don't, but we have been to many teas over the years and we won't be back to the palliser. The food was pretty good, but we were all left with an overall bad feeling about the whole thing in general.
