We had the afternoon tea and the food was plentiful and sublime. You are given the option of tea/coffee and bubbles for an extra fee. We went for the Spice Merchant special tea and that was delicious. Staff were attentive but not loitering just the right balance. We’ll definitely be back again.

Didn’t know what to expect from ‘afternoon tea’. What a treat! We chose 1 vegetarian and 1 meat and were treated to a selection of warm savouries such as pakora, chicken, and tasty wraps all nicely spiced but not too hot with a variety of teas. There was a mango lassi a selection of gorgeous cakes, macaroon and even scones to finish! Didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day. Highly recommend.

Despite a mixup between Open Table and the restaurant we had a lovely meal…. Just not the one we were expecting. Spice merchant kept the kitchen open after their usual lunchtime service and provided us with delicious food in an otherwise empty restaurant. Service was brisk … but we understood why. Can really recommend the food… not cheap but freshly cooked, an extensive menu and well presented

Always excellent food at the Spice Merchant. The service is very friendly and welcoming and we had a really enjoyable meal.

Such a unique afternoon tea experience- food tasted really nice. We had a vegetarian in our group- and often the substitutes are not as nice- but that isn’t the case here. Would definitely recommend if you’re looking for something a bit different

We opted for the vegetarian afternoon tea and enjoyed everything on offer. The food had plenty of flavour without being too hot. We asked for masala chai (spiced Indian tea) which came in a large teapot and this too was very tasty. The desserts were varied and delicious but we were unable to finish them and so had them packed to take home. Overall a very good experience and one I would thoroughly recommend. Looking forward to going again!

Afternoon tea was lovely. Savoury dishes were really tasty and made a change from sandwiches and finger rolls. Staff were polite and helpful. For most of the meal we were the only 4 people in the restaurant so was very quiet. Only issue we have is with OpenTable, not the restaurant itself. We booked afternoon tea for 2pm. The restaurant closes at 2pm so this booking should not have been available on the OpenTable website. The restaurant called and we rebooked for 1pm. Not quite 'afternoon tea' time but it was a lovely meal.
