Join us for a traditional British afternoon tea, featuring a taste of ROAST classics!

Our afternoon tea comprises of 3 courses including finger sandwiches, savouries, traditional scones served with jam and clotted cream, and true British cakes. It is served alongside a great selection of tea.

We offer the perfect environment to enjoy the great British tradition of afternoon tea whilst looking down on the hustle and bustle of London’s oldest market place.

Our new afternoon tea is available Friday to Sunday from 11:45am to 5:30pm.

The menu relies on only the freshest produce so is often subject to change.

Afternoon tea was lovely, decor was really pretty. Being charged for a refill tea is a first though, £10 for an English breakfast tea and a herbal tea. I’ve been to the ritz, Claridges, the Dorchester and the plaza in New York all top places and never been charged extra for tea.

Roast is a lovely place. I enjoyed my afternoon tea and will come back but not during the weekend; it was very busy. A suggestion I would make is that they should have a pescatarian menu available. They only have meat or vegetarian. My pescatarian friend was first given the meat menu then the vegetarian one. Also, when food was presented to us, we were not explained what the items were. Unusual for afternoon tea in my experience. The meat menu was delicious, apart from the brioche which was a bit stale. The Equinox cocktail was exquisite, and my orange and passion fruit tea was lovely. I will visit again.

I had made a reservation for afternoon tea for 4 people at 3pm and we had arrived early to the restaurant. Despite the early arrival, we had to queue to inform the host that we had arrived. There was another party of 5 in front of us, also waiting for their table, who had asked if they could have a certain table in the restaurant but they were told that it was a table for 4 and with them being a party of 5 they might be squashed while seated. They explained that they didn’t mind and they were then directed to the table. I was then asked again for my name and could hear two members of staff trying to move tables around, on their system, to try and accommodate us. I can only assume that it was our table that was given away to the party of 5. We then had to wait for a further 15 minutes for our table as an alternative was not ready for us. This surely defeats the point of having to make a reservation in the first. After finally being shown to our table, we were then asked about allergies by one member of waiting staff, we explained that we would like a vegetarian menu before the member of staff went to collect a vegetarian menu. Again, we had already requested this online (as requested as part of the booking process) so staff should have been aware of this. Our order was then taken by another member of staff but the food did come to the table quite promptly but unfortunately, the tea arrived 5 minutes after the food had arrived at the table. We also asked for water for the table but it never arrived. While eating, one member of staff started to clear our table and took one away of the food plates without saying anything. This led to some confusion as we were still eating. He then returned the plate and explained that he was trying to make more room on the table for us. We had no problem with this but we were confused in the first instance. The food was nice (credit to the kitchen staff) and we enjoyed the afternoon; however, the service could use some improvement.

The service was quite poor. Took awhile to even get waters, and felt like we had to beg to order. The food was dropped unceremoniously on the table, well before the tea arrived.

It was very nice experience and the food was fresh and tasty! Staff looked a bit tired but service was good and friendly! Atmosphere of the room is amazing!

Beautiful venue, attentive staff some of the food was delicious & some a bit tasteless. Had to ask staff for new cutlery & plate from going from savoury to sweet, would have been nice if I did not haveto.

Generous, pretty BUT dissapointing taste wise Savoury dishes : heavy texture, pulled meat or pate similar texture , tiny salmon no acidity and all were too salty unfortunately , scones were served warm, nice touch but they were quite dry jam however was excellent The 3 sweet cakes were v pretty in pink, tiny cheesecake just ok , tart was nice ,choux itself was good but pink filling pretty but tasteless . Had to scoop it out . tea very nice, service attentif, Generous afternoon tea but didn't taste much so didn't match expectations All show but no texture unfortunately . presentation was good and inviting but there should be more to it and food didn't match it

Beautiful setting and everything from the tea set to the food was beautiful. We had the afternoon tea and the portion sizes are just the right amount.
