Enjoy our colleges of Cambridge inspired Afternoon Tea as a takeaway this summer. With traditional finger sandwiches and freshly baked scones, accompanied by chocolate and almond delice, blueberry cheesecake, rhubarb and vanilla choux bun and raspberry and rose roulade. Free-from menu also available. Please note, free-from Afternoon Tea bookings require at least 24 hours to prepare for any allergies or dietary requirements.

Please do ask for a manager should you have any allergies or intolerances we need to be aware of.

We cannot guarantee the absence of all allergens in our dishes. A discretionary service charge of 12.5% will be added to your bill. Menu may change depending on seasonality. VAT included.

Nice afternoon tea, but a little basic, pricey for what is was, unexpected service charge added on at the end, also I paid cash and was told they didn’t give change! Waiter was helpful and we had a nice afternoon

Lovely food and good attentive service. Had to request to move tables because the chairs at the first table were very low and sloped back; not good for someone with a bad back.

Excellent tea. Rather more cakes than we could eat, but they do provide a take-out box. I would have preferred brown bread for all the sandwiches.

Booking and initial contact went well. Although local to Cambridge we had never been to Parkers Tavern but had heard good things. We booked for Afternoon Tea at 3.30pm. with one of our party requiring gluten free. It was a rare sunny and beautiful afternoon...we were led to the restaurant which was completely empty at the time ( and only one other party came later). We had a table next to the window but it still felt gloomy and lacking in atmosphere. A slightly longer wait for the food and then service seemed to go awry. There was no milk with the tea, and we had quite a wait for it to arrive. We then asked for top up of the tea and after 10 minutes it had not arrived. I went to chase it up and was told it had not been out through to the kitchen. After a further 10 minute wait I enquired again and was told rather haughtily that it was on it s way and was being freshly made! Would I return for afternoon tea? No... the food was excellent but if you want a good Cream Tea experience there are many other places in Cambridge with much more ambience and at half the price. Parkers Tavern is Cream Tea for rich tourists. However the gluten free option ( which needs 24 hours notice) was rated excellent.

Overall a nice experience but a bit lacking. Sandwiches were very bland without very much filling. The service wasn’t very attentive. The setting was very nice and the sweet desserts were good.

Third time for afternoon tea and the food was excellent. Really nice to have it in the library. Staff were good - looked a bit stressed at times, but asked us on multiple occasions if we wanted top ups etc. Would recommend.

Three of us were put on a very small table squeezed in between 2 other tables- there was very little space to sit, and one of the chairs kept getting knocked by everyone walking past. When we asked to move, the waiter came across more annoyed and inconvenienced that he had to help. The afternoon tea took more than an hour to arrive, there was no apology or explanation given.

After making a reservation for a 50th birthday and nothing mention, it just seemed to go down hill. The room was extremely dusty, chandler, book shelves and vents. Reception was pleasant, server pushy and didn’t listen to guest. Upon being seated we were asked straight away were we ready. Hadn’t even looked at menu and 1 person had just returned from the toilet. Never had a chance to look at menu to see what we were about to get. After an about 15 min our food arrive but our tea had not. The food was placed on table with no explanation of what we about to embark. Our sever returned and asked if we knew what we had, we stated no. He seemed angry as it showed in his tone and in face. The room was disorganised and uncomfortable. There was a lovely group of women having a baby shower, who want to put a handful of pink and blue balloons around them, which they seem to agreed to either the events department, though the manager was not having it. Not the best atmosphere or appeasing to the guest. During service you had staff state this is a new menus and didn’t know the menu. This is unacceptable and poor training. After we finished our sandwiches and started on the next part our afternoon tea we were then get asked if we wanted more sandwiches. Attention to detail is not a strong point, not just in service but in cleanliness as well. When we start on scones we quickly gone through the jam and cream, we had to ask twice to obtain. Second round of tea took ages as my loose leaf tea bag was not draped and leaves in my cup, no strainer provided. The food, (sandwiches, scones and pastries)were exceptional, service diabolical, unorganised and useless. Before writing this review I gave Parkers Tavern the opportunity to get back to me, two days past with nothing. Staff need more training emphasis on attention to detail. This includes management as no one responded to my In person dissatisfaction.

When me and my daughter turned up, they seated us in the corner, which was quite nice. Looking outside the park the afternoon tea was very nice. The waitresses were very nice and polite kept coming back to see if we needed another refill of coffee or food. The only thing I would say it was very hot in there with no air conditioning. The doors were open, but they were in the bar and we were in the restaurant and no windows opened. We asked for a take away as we couldn’t eat at all and the waitress took it away and gave us a box to take home just one thing on the afternoon afternoon tea the sandwich was Beef with horseradish, which I don’t eat the cheese and cucumber was nice but very thick so just really at the egg sandwiches to be honest x
