It was our first time in London and going to tea as a family. My oldest daughter and I have been to many teas (Ritz Carlton, Hotel Bel Air - a sister hotel to the Dorchester, Pennisula Beverly Hills and many more) and so we knew what we were looking for. Originally we were thinking of Harrods or Fortum & Mason but ultimately saw in pics that it looked crowded and noisy. Since this was going to be my husband and two boys first tea experience I wanted a very special ambiance. I am not even certain how I found it but when I saw pictures of “The Secret Garden” and the private glass domes, I was sold. Even if we did not get a dome, the garden looked private and lovely. As it turned out, we were able to get a private dome and everything exceeded my expectations. We are traveling Europe and surprisingly tea here has remained the family highlight. Even my two boys ages 16 and 12 who were skeptical LOVED it. The service was impeccable (I even loved the navy and white gingham shirts they wore), the atmosphere very private and quiet which I found a necessity for our enjoyment) and the food was delicious. They even offered my two youngest 12 and 8 a 1/2 priced selection with some different child friendly items they loved while still giving them traditional fare to try. One of my favorite things was that there was no music!!! We were able to set the tone in our own dome with our own classical selection and when we were out in the garden before and after - the lack of music really allowed you to ENJOY THE GARDEN- and let you hear the sounds and tune your senses to its natural delights. There was a fragrant jasmine arch we enjoyed pictures under and they even offered some lawn games for the children. It’s setting was ideallic with large trees backed up by an old church. It was everything I was hoping for and more. I hate to draw much attention to it because it seems it truly is a secret! And we loved that it was! To find such a haven amidst the bustling streets was truly magical!

Shakshi was our server for the afternoon. She was outstanding! Very lovely and welcoming. Went into detail about our food and made sure it met our dietary requirements. Had a very bubbly personality and offered to take pictures of us! Service from shakshi was 10/10, she really helped the birthday girls day pan out very smoothly.

Major oversell. The tea is bad, the food is bad, and the service is bad. This isn’t a “secret garden” its w hotel lobby with chairs in it.

The setting is nice but the dome would benefit from some background music & if it is a very sunny day, do consider there might not be much shade. The garden does feel nice& private. We opted for the £50 afternoon tea & ordered a cocktail (pina colada), which was really good. The afternoon tea includes 3 small finger sandwiches. The venue kindly swapped out to our preferences. The sandwiches were tasty but for the price, I did want more of them so the feeling of value was lacking. Refills are £5 for 3 finger sandwiches. We were not disturbed which for some may be a benefit but we felt forgotten about and an issue when we wanted tea refills. The booking has a section to include a special occasion which i said it was a friend’s birthday however this was missed so feels pointless having that section on the booking screen. Overall, I wouldn’t return as the afternoon tea felt generic and they’re relying on the setting too much, forgetting that all aspects need to be enjoyable. The price is comparable with other afternoon teas in London however given such a competitive market I think they need to improve their offering.

The setting is nice, we sat in a dome. The service was very good. The tea was unending and wonderful. Unfortunately the food was nearly inedible. Truly. Not a good value for the money, overall. We had afternoon tea for four people. It was $240 US dollars, which was quite a splurge for leaving without any sort of appetite satisfaction. Or, what should have been a light lunch for us. If they offer tea only, that would be perfect. Otherwise I can not recommend based on the food offered.

Horrible!! The "secret" of the garden was a kiddie birthday that happened all over there with extreme noise level. We waited for 35 min to get service and never did get even any tea during the time as stuff was busy with serving that birthday. The waitress went to bring white table cloth after my request as the plastic table was uncovered yet birthday party tables had all white linen, but she never returned. As it was our last day in London we simply left after 35 min with a headache of the loud birthday noises. On the door we were promised a voucher for compensation that we never got. This experience kind of ruined our last day London experience.

Space was nice. Domes pretty. We were asked for drinks once. Never came to check if we liked food or another drink. Spiders landed on all 3 of us, in hair and on food. I know we were outside in domes but should do a sweep of room and spray. Food was fine but this place can be so much more.

We specific chose this venue because of the secrecy and no noises. But the manager has taken in a birthday party with 6 years old playing the Olympic Games. So no silence at all. We complained (the manager should either had said no to us and other afternoon guest or said no to the party). He gave us a 20% discount. Thanks But it was a big surprise when ordinary water was charge (there were water glas on the table and we wasn’t told the it cost extra) and a service fee of 12,5% was added to the price. The food was very nice and the service from the waiter was fine. But it is up to us guests to decide whether a tip to her should be given. Overall we were very disappointed due to the noise and pricing policy
