Adalina is a refined hospitality destination serving a modern and engaging Italian menu in a timeless yet alluring setting in the heart of Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Led by Michelin-starred chef Soo Ahn. Adalina’s menu creates a balance between Northern and Southern cuisine, providing expertly staged shared plates along with strong statement items that satisfy a table.     Ordered a $25 glass of wine and the pour was minimal at best. I was lucky to get more than a few sips. Very disappointed at the short change. After many dining experiences here we will not be back. Very sad they need to cut corners.

    We decided to dine at Adalina after seeing Chef Soo Ahn on Top Chef for his ability to fry foods and combine unique flavors. The host staff was accommodating, seating us early upon arrival. The service was friendly, but not as refined as other comparable establishments. The menu was appealing, but who doesn’t offer Chicken Parm on a Saturday evening (available Sat lunch and all day Sunday)? We ended up ordering Veal Parm and Gnocchi. I’m not sure if there were staffing issues, but the food took a while and came out luke-warm to cold. The Veal Parm breading was crunchy, but cold, and I would prefer a little more marinara sauce and cheese on mine. There was not enough to enjoy with each bite. The Gnocchi was cold and, we typically won’t do this, but we sent it back for a fresh plate. The second attempt was 1/2 cold and 1/2 was very hot, as if some of the same gnocchi was used and hoped the sauce would make it warm. Additionally we had Octopus and Fried Green Tomato Caprese Salad, which also had no wow factor and the fried tomatoes were cold breading, which I did not enjoy. We dine at many upscale establishments and were very disappointed in our experience. It’s not on the return list.

    It continues to be one of the best experiences in the city with highly trained, personable and knowledgeable staff. Excellent fare. I can’t recommend it enough. It is one of the true gems of the Gold Coast.

    I had never heard of this restaurant until the chef appeared on Top Chef. We are so glad we found it. The I food was outstanding (charred octopus, gnocchi alla nonna, a seafood pasta, & a pasta in pepper sauce that I can’t remember the names of). We started with kir royales which were delicious. The tiramisu was probably the best we’ve ever had. Service was also top-notch. Our only minor complaint was the potato-octopus ratio. There was very little octopus but what we had was cooked beautifully. We’ll be back!

    I really really wanted to love this place. Was very excited to go, I'm a huge Top Chef fan and so many people recommended Adalina. Food was good, but not great. The service was attentive, but when half of our party of 6 finished eating, their plates were cleared before the rest of the party finished their meal which is not what you expect in a restaurant of this calibre and cost. The ladies washroom was pretty filthy also. Which was a big surprise. It felt more like a bathroom in a bar at 10 pm vs one in a fine dining restaurant. I would give this restaurant another chance. Perhaps the recent PR from Top Chef has made them so busy they haven't yet been able to adjust to the new level of traffic. But for the price I paid, it wasn't the experience I hoped for.

    The atmosphere and cocktails were great. The food left us disappointed. There was nothing to write home about with the veal parm or short rib. They were fine but not memorable. The vodka pasta was just a confused dish without much flavor. as my husband said, the chef is clearly not Italian.

    I was so excited to go here but ended up being disappointed. I have to say the food was not great. MIlanese was overdone/dry, vongole was seriously lacking in vongole. I was really looking forward to the gnoochi a la romana but it was a speck and overwhelmed by the ribs. We were a large group and as I had booked they asked me if this was a chain resto and I have to say that nailed the experience. Even the waiter, as polite as he was, we felt was trying to push some items. Dessert was very good though. I really wanted to like this resto but I won't go again. Not commensurate with the price. Sorry :(
