Paying homage to Oakland history-about 100 years ago there was a lounge and club called the VARSITY LOUNGE located in our same location, who knew! In digging up old Oakland memorabilia, we found an old menu. To our surprise-they were well known for two things the Varsity Martini and Conga Lines!! While we aren’t ready for a conga, we are ready for the Varsity Martini and other drink specials. Come join us every day in our downstairs café, and our upstairs bar Monday through Saturday.

The carbonara was raw egg soup and the meat was not rendered enough. The mushroom pasta was okay just a bit weird to have PSL flavored pasta. IMO not good enough for the price. I would stick to the pizza.

We brought a party of 8 to dinner last night after really enjoying our date night there a few months ago. The food was definitely just so so. Our bill was very high for what we got. Such a bummer

Just ate at Acre for the first time. We had the fried olives and they were delicious-a must order. I don’t like olives but loved these. Sandwiches are excellent-not cheap but high quality. We will go back again to dine in the upstairs restaurant.

We had a 5:00 dinner, not much noise and great service at the time. Food was good. I have been back several times. I ordered salmon and I did mention I like it cook through, not transparent or any raw fish. It did come raw in the middle. I do realize that is probably the right way to eat it. BUT-They didn’t make the salmon the way I requested and I was very specific.

Our first meal at ACRE was good and we will be back. We dined in the parklet outside and it's a typical outdoor space occupying a former set of parking spaces on the street. They've worked hard to make it intimate with bistro lights and foliage, but our table rocked back and forth on the not-quite-flat floor. There were no heaters visible, so on a cooler night it might be harder to dine there late in the evening, but we had a warm evening with perfect weather as the sun set. The hummus appetizer was amazing and we would come back just for that. The butternut squash soup was also very good. We both had pasta as our main and it was good, but we would probably try other things on our next visit. While our pastas came out at the same time, we noticed that the pizza came out substantially before some of the non-pizza entrees for the table of four next to us. Their server was apologetic, but it sounded like this was not a surprise, so this might not be the ideal place to take people who expect everyone's entree to arrive at the same time. We look forward to our next meal at ACRE.

We had another wonderful experience at Acre! Dinner was great (Chef Dirk) continues to amaze us with his exceptional culinary skills! The staff is warm and always make you feel welcome. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

What an incredible dinner we had! Great food, amazing service. They had all signed a card that they provided to us to wish us a happy anniversary. It was such a serene, pleasant and delicious experience!
