Our experience with the dining room was quite pleasant and our server was amazing. In my opinion the ding room is looking a bit tired. The dining room, for a Friday, was quite empty - at the most there were 16 people in attendance and I wonder if this is a result of the problem we encountered which threatened to spoil our celebratory dinner - PARKING OR RATHER LACK OF! My husband dropped me off and went on to park the car. The parking lot (small) for Absinthe was full ( were these all Absinthe clientele?) and it took my husband 30 minutes at least to finally find an on street parking space 7 blocks away from the restaurant. We won't go back because of this and if you do go I would strongly suggest you take a cab, uber, have someone drop you off, or take public transpo. I had just begun to worry that my husband had met with an accident when he finally arrived. Lack of adequate parking is unacceptable.

Our experience was amazing! From the salad, made with the chef's own grown tomatoes, the fish and crab cakes and shrimp, to the beef wellington and vegetables cooked to perfection. Our server Olivia was attentive, energetic and just amazing. We will be back. This was the best restaurant experience we've ever had.

Excellent food - fresh ingredients, all of it delicious. The in-house focaccia was amazing, my vichyssoise was refreshing, the aged steak was tender and flavourful and my crème brûlée was to die for. Our server, Bonnie, was super friendly and very helpful. Will definitely return.

This was a disappointing visit. We arrived at 6:30 yet it was near 9pm before we were able to leave due the abysmal slowness of the service. Given that the restaurant was only a 3rd full, at most, the length of time it took to get our orders was surprising. Nor was this languorous approach acknolwedged, let alone apologized for, by our server, The food itself was mostly OK but not at the standard I had expected from previous visits. Two of my party had the steak frites and in both cases what was supposed to be medium rare beef arrived as medium, at best, while the frites leaned to the soggy side. Another of my companions had the beef stroganoff which she didn't finish as she found the beef a bit too chewy (though she loved the sauce). All in all it does not seem like the A team was on duty.

We dined at Absinthe on August 1st. One of our party was delayed so we had to phone the restaurant to see if we could arrive one hour later than we had booked. They accommodated us very graciously, which we appreciated. The food and service were both excellent. All three of us chose the three-course option which offered good choices and excellent food. We definitely recommend this restaurant.

I haven't been here for over 5 years and wanted to return for a change of pace from what I regularly go to in my Barrhaven neighbourhood. While we were there earlier than what I normally would have gone (6pm) I was a little surprised by the "old" clientele .. not exactly my style... That said, I had the duck and it was the BEST meal I've had in ages...!! And my friends all enjoyed their dinners too especially the steak diners! Will definitely return but not regularly because of the distance from our home.

Great atmosphere for a conversation focused dinner. The service was excellent, with servers continually available and professional. The food was very good. I wouldn’t say excellent because the steak and fries plate had too much butter both on the steak and on the green beans according my friend who was with us. Nonetheless it was very tasty too but they showed me their plate when they were done and there was a pool of butter. We also ordered the beef Wellington fixed menu and every item was delicious with one minor set back —The beef Wellington was too salty — it must have been a slip up because it was excessively salty and doesn’t seem like it would be the set recipe. Re-price: I think all good restaurants are currently priced higher than what can be considered good value for the average household income. I gave the a four star but it’s not really Absinthe in particular that has that issue. Over all - highly recommend.

I have hearing issues and asked for a quieter table which was kindly provided. The occasion was my husband’s BD who wanted steak/frite and he was extremely happy with his meal as was I. Our 2 guests were equally happy with their meal, the ambiance and the great service. We will most definitely be back! Thank you Absinthe for a wonderful BD celebration!
