Aboyer (ab-wah-yay), meaning, “to bark,” is a French-American brasserie as imagined by Chef Michael Lachowicz. Aboyer wakes up the senses with a sexy, energetic vibe. Refined French pub-grub served alongside craft cocktails & wine in the contemporary space exudes a nouveau-bistro style.

Located in the heart of Chicago's North Shore, the menu features starters such as Potato & Truffle Soup, Charcuterie, and Rabbit & Sage Sausage to main courses including Coq au Vin, Cassoulet, Faroe Island Salmon and more.

Reservations are recommended; walk-ins are welcome. Aboyer requires a credit card to secure all reservations. Please note that reservations cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled booking will incur a $25 per guest cancellation fee & no-shows will be billed at a rate of $50 per guest.

    The steak frites was tremendous, as were the appetizers. Cocktails and service was very poor.

    Aboyer (previously Restaurant Michael) has been one of our favorite north shore spots to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. My husband and I have been following Chef Michael all around the Chicago area for decades now, and although the amazing food has been the key reason, we have always been impressed by his professionally trained staff, who are friendly, knowledgeable and pay attention to details. On this visit, we were celebrating my birthday (2 months late) since we cancelled the first reservation when Covid hit us, and the aftereffects stayed around far too long. The evening here was well worth the wait! After stopping at the bar for a quick hello to Sergio and a Champagne (for me) and a Chardonnay we settled in to the cozy banquette for dinner. We ordered our standard starter, the delectable Gougères, a mainstay that we hope never goes away. I switched to a rich Aviary Napa Cabernet for the rest of the dinner. We were delighted to have Sergio Junior as our server! He obviously enjoys his job and is a real ambassador for the restaurant. We took his recommendations for our entrees, and both were fantastic! I never order pork, and rarely make it at home, except for a roast. The Peppercorn Crusted Berkshire Pork Rib Chop with Cognac Mushroom Sauce was by far the best pork I have ever had. Happy Birthday to me. My husband’s decadently delicious Aboyer Burger was an unexpected item for him to order here, except for how much he loved it. Thank you from both of us, SJ!!! Last night was well worth waiting for. ♥️♥️

    We had a wonderful meal at Aboyer on a Saturday evening. The service was attentive and we will likely return.

    Aboyer is one of our favorite restaurants. We have been coming for years. Have never had a disappointment. New items have been added to the menu. The burger is probably the best in the city.

    The service provided by Alfredo, who served us 10 years ago when the room was Georges Trois restaurant, was excellent. The food was very good, though the fries should be a little crisper. We are looking forward to returning for their Christmas Eve dinner.

    Food was excellent as always. Dining room was louder and more vibrant than previous experiences but we liked that, especially for a Friday night. Our only complaint was waiting nearly 40min after our reservation time to be seated, while two other groups of 4 who arrived well after us were seated upon arrival. The host put together a couple tables to accommodate us because "we were in a hurry." We allowed 1:45 for our dinner before our event, hardly a tight window. We were only rushed b/c we were 40min late in being seated!

    Service was excellence. Food was solid, well prepared and tasty. It’s loud and tables are close so if you are good with that it’s a solid choice. If you want a quiet evening to talk with your dinner partner, this isn’t it.
