Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. In fact, most tables will have multiple wine buckets close by, keeping the bubbly cool. The fresh, ripe American menu features seasonal seafood, salads, small-shareable plates, large raw bar and prime meats. The wine list curated by Virene, is both the best-priced on bubbly and wines in the city. The interiors have a sophisticated rustic vibe with exposed brick, reclaimed woods and a color palate of creams and blues. The effervescent appeal of bubbles is reflected in a light installation that mimics bubbles floating overhead. Great waitstaff and tasty food. Only problem the wife was getting annoyed by the AC vent dripping water on her while eating.

Not a nice experience: parking I limited and spots are very narrow, inside restaurant very noisy, food was very flat of taste (my wife had mussels and I had salmon ravioli). Wine was good but overall very high on the dollar. Would not recommend to go back as there are better alternatives nearby.

All the food seemed pre prepared and not fresh no taste cold and not tasty. Deinks were warm and not chilled at least. Would not go back.

My husband and I went for Valentines Day. We got French onion soup, pomme frites, the steak dish, and the shrimp pasta dish. The soup was fine, not a lot of cheese which was slightly disappointing. The pomme frites were soggy. The steak was pretty much raw and the shrimp dish was bland. Expected better food than what you’d get at Chili’s. Disappointing when you pay that much for that level of food. Wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

It was my fiance and I first time here. Everything from the valet to the server and I think her name was Lauren was great.

Didn’t love our first experience at A’Bouze. I realize on Valentine’s Day night it would be busy, but when we booked our reservation there was never mention of being seated in the patio. Yes they had heaters, but I did not plan for this and had bare legs. I would have been cold. We did get seated inside but not an optimal seat when there were other nicer tables available. We didn’t argue though. Server was ok, but a bit slow. Had to ask manager for drinks as we were dry for a while. Our biggest issue was the specials. The 12oz ribeye was probably the worst meal I have eaten in a long time. I NEVER complain. Won’t go back.

Redfish, pork belly, carpaccio, tartar, wine.. all amazing. Food was amazing. Service was even better. Carlos is phenomenal at his job. My fiance and I had an amazing valentines dinner. If you’re in the River oaks Houston area stop by this place for some amazing food and service. Ask for Carlos and enjoy the experience.
