Restauranteur Shawn Virene put the POP into Houston with his wildly successful a’Bouzy. This champagne-fueled spot located in the tony River Oaks neighborhood of town attracts a stylish crowd all day. The bar is always bustling and the patio echoes with the cry – “a Bouzy!” every time a bottle is sabered tableside. In fact, most tables will have multiple wine buckets close by, keeping the bubbly cool. The fresh, ripe American menu features seasonal seafood, salads, small-shareable plates, large raw bar and prime meats. The wine list curated by Virene, is both the best-priced on bubbly and wines in the city. The interiors have a sophisticated rustic vibe with exposed brick, reclaimed woods and a color palate of creams and blues. The effervescent appeal of bubbles is reflected in a light installation that mimics bubbles floating overhead. We had a great dinner: goat cheese and beets, baked oyster, truffle pasta and Alaskan salmon. All were tasty, but the pasta was "scrape the plate" good. We were in the back of the restaurant, and the tables were a little tight the way they were configured, but that was more of a problem for the servers - we were not too close to other diners and the noise level was nice and low. We stayed quite long and even though I'm sure the staff was anxious to close up, they did not rush us at all. Marco and staff were great.

We were pleasantly surprised about how nice it was. Thought it was a noisy champagne place. We sat at bar and enjoyed oysters and wine. Service was excellent all around.

A'bouzy met our expectations, which is why we go back. Someone mentioned mussels (moules frites) and the other three in our group said, "I want some too!" so we promptly made a reservation for the same night. We never tire of the design with the high ceiling, expansive glass wall and limewashed brick which gives us vibes of modern Paris. It was a quiet evening (Tuesday, school night) and while the service is always very good, it was par excellence last night. The manager positioned our table for maximum comfort, the staff kept all the water glasses filled and our waiter had excellent suggestion for various drinks. We did indeed all have moules but also started with salads. The beet and goat cheese salad is excellent. The one area where our opinions diverged was the frites, which are served directly over the moules. Some of them inevitably get soaked in the broth and one person would have preferred they were served to the side so they never lose their crispness. Everyone else liked the saturated frites so we agreed it's a matter of personal preference. Now that you've read this review, you can decide in advance how you want yours.

a very mediocre experience sadly I regret posting less than super feedback, but I just cannot this time my group chose A'Bouzy for several reasons, a few hadn't been there at all and a few of us hadn't been in a long time the environment is lovely with a modulated noise level, which was great while our waiter was congenial he was slow in taking care of us that wasn't so bad as we were talking and catching up the food was so disappointing ---we chose the Restaurant Weeks menu and it still cost $100.00 per person the shrimp bisque seemed to have come from a mix, the flavor was strong and the consistency too thick one of our group ordered Beef Bourguignon she ate about 3 bites and took it home to her husband----2 of our group ordered chicken and seemed to be pleased with it I ordered the pasta and it had a thick white sauce that seemed like flour and butter ---with NO flavor at all unfortunately we all concurred, we won't be back
