Very welcoming and friendly service. Food very good indeed. We did wait a while for it but it was well worth the wait.

open table and The Abbey pub is not fit for purpose. Upon our arrival we were told no food was being served and that they were unable to notify us of cancellation because open table dosnt have the facility to do this. So our evening was compleatly ruined. I would not recommend using open table for booking anywhere.

Was booked in for Mothers Day and my Dad's birthday, we were put on a table right next to the front door, it was a cold rainy day so everytime the door opened we got a draught. Not good when we had 2 elderly diners with us. We ordered food when arrived and it didn't come out for an hour after and it wasn't even busy. Did get an apology after 45 minutes. The portions were very small for the price, was glad we ordered our 11yr old an adults meal (lasagna) as she was still hungry after that (it came with just lasagna in a fancy shallow skillet and 2 pieces of lettuce) There was a teaspoon portion of mash on the Sunday lunch, 3 tiny roast potatoes, cabbage, yorkshire pudding which took thd whole plate up and very watery gravy. All in all won't be coming back to dine as the food is too posh for the pub. We should have complained but we were waiting so long for food that we were all grateful to eat something. We left straight after the meal as the table was not ideal to sit and have a drink.

Took my parents to the Abbey for the first time for lunch. We had a fish finger sandwich from the lunch menu which was meant to be on bloomer bread. It was literally stuck between two thin slices of cheap bread with no salad or anything. It was very poor quality, we just looked at it in surprise. We have been to places before and had a fish finger sandwich and the quality has been a lot better. We will not be returning for food again. However the member of staff was friendly behind the bar.

The food was lovely but the Yorkshire puddings were burnt & the vegetable Wellington was also burnt. We was sat next to the fire which wasn't on & it was rather cold as was getting a draft from the door leading to the car park. But saying all this we will return

We arrived just before our booked time and were told they didn’t know we were booked and they were out of food. Rubbish.

Very overpriced for what you get more like microwave food , chips like scraps had to return them , scampi was overdone and dry it came with peas but there was only a desert spoon full if that , I asked for tartar sauce but was told they’d ran out , my husband had lasagna which came in a small dish and looked dry round the edges with a bit of lettuce no garlic bread unless you pay extra , which at £12.95 I would excpect it to be free ! We did eat the meals but came out feeling dissapointed , we so r be returning
