A Salute is an Italian restaurant & full service cocktail bar located in an 1850 Church on Main Street in Matawan, NJ (Three minute walk from train station). The 170 year old building has kept its character and warmth to provide a comfortable setting for families and friends to enjoy a great lunch or dinner. Outdoor dining with a full service bar and oversized patio.

Karaoke every Friday Night!

Lunch Available daily from 11:30-3:30pm. Happy Hour daily from 3:00pm-6:00pm featuring 1/2 off drinks and select appetizers. Dinner begins at 4:00pm.

We are now offering a $60 pp Family Style Dinner, 7 Days a week, incl. holidays. Minimum 2 ppl required. Kids 10 and Under Eat Free!

Reservation was for 6:45, and was not seated until 7:15. Then we were seated in a makeshift covered patio with an ambiance of propane tanks and leaking water from the ceiling dropping on us as we dined. With that being said, the service was good and food was good, portions were a little small for the price. Overall, as long as your sat in the dining room you will have a pleasurable evening, the patio dining experience was pretty bad.

Daniella, the bartender made exceptional drinks and was super kind and friendly. Definitely will come back.

My wife and I loved the family style dinner. It was absolutely delicious and a great value for the price. Hence it includes all the beer and wine you can drink.

Let me start by saying we’ve been to this restaurant multiple times since we moved from Manhattan to NJ, and we’ve always had an amazing experience. The staff always went out of their way to make dinner very memorable. I’m not sure if they were understaffed because it was Valentine’s Day, or if they had a management change since the last time we were there, but tonight we struck out on all of the important things - ambiance, food and service. First, they put us in the “covered outdoor patio” area (family of 4, two adults and two little girls in dresses), and it was freezing to the point of being uncomfortable. Even when we moved closer to the heat lamps, it was still frigid. It was a far cry from the elegant and eclectic dining room - more of a bar atmosphere, which was not what we were expecting. So no ambiance. Next, we had to put our entire order in at once, which I’m never a fan of, but sometimes it can be done right. Not tonight. We asked the waiter to bring the kids food out first - when our appetizer came out. But instead, he brought out all of the entrees together (and it was at least 45 minutes between courses). He said it was because my husband’s Branzino took a long time. So you would think they would hold the other 3 entrees until closer to when the Branzino was done, but no. The other 3 dishes looked like they’d been sitting under the heat lamp for quite a while. And it tasted like that too. So food 👎 and service 👎. And finally, to add insult to injury, there was only 1 valet attendant who was totally backed up, so we had to wait at least 15 minutes in the cold vestibule for our car. Overall , a disappointing and regrettable experience. It may have just ruined this place for us 😕.

The family style dinner is absolutely worth it for the money you get so much food and you walk out taking food home. It’s an absolute must try.

Pizza was great enjoyed the shrimp oreganato. All guests enjoyed their entrees. Service was really good overall enjoyed it.

I’ve passed by this place many times on my way to the gym and was always drawn to its striking architecture. I finally decided to have dinner there on a Saturday night. I appreciated that they offered valet parking, especially since it was freezing outside. However, as soon as I stepped in, it was clear they were understaffed. My reservation was for 7 PM, but we still had to wait about 10–15 minutes. The hostess seemed overwhelmed, which made the wait feel a bit disorganized. We were seated in the side cathedral, where the architecture and ambiance really stood out. A live performer was singing Sinatra classics, which added a nice touch, but our table was too close to the stage, making it hard to hear my dining companion. The food was on par with other Italian restaurants in the area. I had the veal, which I enjoyed, but it wasn’t anything extraordinary. Overall, I felt the price didn’t quite match the quality. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t exceptional either—just middle-of-the-road. If you’re a local, it’s worth checking out for the atmosphere. But if you’re traveling, I wouldn’t go out of my way—there’s likely a similar Italian restaurant near you.

We had the family style meal which is basically a tasting menu. The food was very very good and there was more then enough to make 2 people who can eat satisfied and full. And the cost was very fair
