A Salute is an Italian restaurant & full service cocktail bar located in an 1850 Church on Main Street in Matawan, NJ (Three minute walk from train station). The 170 year old building has kept its character and warmth to provide a comfortable setting for families and friends to enjoy a great lunch or dinner. Seasonal outdoor dining with a full service bar and oversized patio.

Live Music in our Bar Area every Thursday- Saturday Evening.

Lunch Available daily from 11:30-3:00pm. Happy Hour daily from 3:00pm-6:00pm featuring 1/2 off drinks and select appetizers. Dinner begins at 4:00pm.

The decor and ambiance was very nice. Unfortunately, the food was not in line with the cost. A little pricey so I expected more. Sadly, I would not dine there again but it’s a great place to meet up for drinks and maybe appetizers at the bar. The staff was very pleasant and the service was good.

Amazing food and great care in service!! Apps and dinner all cooked perfectly. Dessert was delicious. Good selection of wines.

The manager was great; he removed the skirt steak from our bill when he found out we didn't like it (it was full of unchewable grizzle). The server was okay, even though a big party showed up, and he was sometimes a little distracted from our needs. The only real complaint is that the food was nothing to write home about. Others in the Party received cold, slightly undercooked fish; the chicken parm was very expensive for one piece of tasteless chicken covered in ok red sauce with pasta that seemed to be dried out from a heat lamp. However, The "Frutti di Mare" was very good. So 1 out of 4 meals is not good odds. I had heard from others that the food was excellent, so I was really excited to go. I hope they get a better Chef, and I will give them another chance, but not soon.

First time dining here but not our last. We were greeted with a smile, offered either indoor or outdoor seating, and opted for the outdoor patio because the weather was perfect. The patio lets you take in the old stone church exterior and is very well designed, music sets a nice ambiance and there are tables under a fixed awning or in the sun with umbrellas. There is also couch seating or bar stools if you just want cocktails. We had an early dinner so cannot say how lively it gets later but we loved the chill atmosphere. The service was attentive, friendly and helpful. We ordered the calamari with Thai sauce which was cooked perfectly - not tough. For dinner we had the veal Milanese, and the chicken franchaise. Both were tender and seasoned perfectly. Expresso was great with dark chocolate gelato to share to end a perfect meal. Cannot wait to come back with a group and try eating inside the dining room which looks charming. We left before the Friday night karaoke but would go back for some fun! I imagine it gets a little louder then. 😎

This was our first time and it was very pleasant. The interior is very nice; the church's structure can still be seen in the inside dining room. The bar area is very nice. The next time we go we hope to sit outside which I walked through and was totally impressed by. The food and service were top notch.

We started with stuffed mushrooms which were great! Linguine with white clam sauce was fresh and perfectly cooked and presented. Orichetti with broccoli rabe & sausage was also a great choice! Overall on the pricey side but worth the trip & no complaints !

This restaurant is a hidden gem. Situated in an old church it’s very cute for all gathering whether it’s just dinner with a friend, family or a group going out for just drinks. The staff is extremely pleasant and the food is delicious, especially their homemade bread. The restaurant is clean and very cozy and rustic yet modern. I’d definitely eat there again.
