Live Music Venue Restaurant

The 606 has been one of the busiest Live Music venues in Europe since 1976, featuring jazz, soul, groove, Latin, R&B, funk, gospel, blues and groove artists with live music 7 nights a week plus Sunday lunches. With a capacity of 90 seated this intimate basement Club and restaurant is known for its "speakeasy" atmosphere.

Our Head Chef Jean-Pierre and his team create a wide variety of dishes with British and European influences - Some of our classic dishes include our ribeye steak with homade chips, monkfish fillet fish special and delicious vegetarian special.

Our kitchen team use only the freshest ingredients, which are delivered daily. Every single dish is cooked to order - we don't have a microwave!

Please note that a optional music charge will be added to the bill which is generally £15 (Sunday - Thursday) & £18 Friday/Saturday.

I went to 606 club to celebrate my birthday! The staff was really the stand out of the club:) The musicians were great-amazing music and vocals! They gave us chocolate cake for my birthday and I ordered some extra biscoff cheesecake- the best deserts I’ve ever tried in the whole uk! Highly recommend this place if you love Jaz music!🌟

Sarah Gillespie and her band were some of the best live musicians I have ever seen. The club was a decent space, full and lively without being overcrowded. Could do with renovation but I imagine thats not their priority. Food and service good.

I will start by saying that they don’t have the license to let you listen to music without serving you food. They let you know about this after you already book a table with them. What happened to me was that, I was being pushed to order at least 2 starters or leave. The staff pushed this policy on me in such an aggressive way that made me feel really uncomfortable. The waitress talked to me like I was stupid and the manager told me “you either buy a starter or you leave” What kind of place would rather manipulate their clients to order more food with them than get a proper license? What are you, first year in business that you can’t afford a license? No responsibility was taken by the management when I shared my frustration. Those people are absolutely unprofessional and should not be working in hospitality.

We are obviously sorry that this reviewer was unhappy with his visit to the Club, but to clarify, our license is over 30 years old and unfortunately cannot just be "updated". 4 days prior to his visit we sent an e mail that stated "I note that this is a table for dinner (which due to our licensing requirements is compulsory)". We called him to confirm these details in the afternoon and did so again on arrival. The response was to tell us it was "stupid". We really tried our best..

The Lamb Rump dish was delicious - Beautifully cooked lamb and extremely tasty. Came with plenty of Mash & Gravy - Could have done with additional veg such as Carrots. Side dish of Courgettes was enough for 2 people.

Music and the band was great, the general ambience is definitely worth it. The whole experience would be much better if food was more than ordinary - not bad, not good, just very average. From the moment we sat down we tried to look at the menu and choose some drinks but every 30 seconds we kept being asked if we’re ready to order so couldn’t really choose or decide at a normal pace. I understand it gets busy and you want to get orders out of the way but after asking for 2 minutes to have a chance to browse the menu we weren’t given that. Food arrived in less than 5 minutes after ordering so I imagine it’s all pre plated and cooked which is fine but nothing to brag about. Worth it for the music but not much else.
