34 is Chef Emeril Lagasse’s first restaurant dedicated to the cuisine of his Portuguese heritage. He was inspired by his late mother, Hilda, who influenced his interest in cooking when he was a child growing up in Fall River, MA. The 245-seat restaurant is adorned in shades of green – Emeril’s signature color – wood accents and ornate Portuguese tiles. A painting of a rooster, a national Portuguese symbol of good luck, greets guests at the entrance. Once inside, a jamon bar with countertop service and tile-clad DJ booth are focal points of the space. The restaurant celebrates not only the food and design of Portugal but also the sounds, with music from local and touring DJs.

The veggie paella was so delicious with so many flavors and also the Batatas Bravas don't skip. I would like to go back to try Jamon. The desserts were wonderful, the Basque cheesecake is a fav. I want to go back to try a cheese board!

Having just returned from Portugal, my friends and I were excited to dine at 34, as it had just opened and we were attending a play, Beetlejuice, at the Saenger. Emeril did it right, excellent food and presentation , even better than any meal we had in Portugal. Service and ambiance superb.

Food was delicious and different. Service was very good. Pace was a bit slow. Drinks took a while to get served and the food was served very slowly but everything was very very good.

Unique food and flavor options -- our first time having Portuguese food! Really enjoyed trying different items as the menu lends itself to table sharing. Beautiful decor and ambiance, comfortable with space between tables. Favorite items at our table included the paella, bread & butter, olives, coquettes, and pork & clams. Overall highly recommended, however be prepared to spend a lot as most dishes are expensive.

Let me start by saying the food was excellent and they had a fantastic wine list from Portugal. The octopus brought me back to Matosinhos and was by far the best I have had in North America. The issues we experienced will be fixed over time and the opening staff was focused on getting the team up to speed. Our two biggest issues were: 1. Having multiple menus presented at different times - made it hard to plan a meal and little things like not getting bread with cheese and meat made me scratch my head. Because we did not have the second menu having a surprise charge for bread service after spending $100 seemed ridiculous - how do you eat a soft cheese without spreading it? The multiple menus with food could simply be presented at the same time or you could have a list with the food items that logically fall together as appetizer courses. The main menu was withheld by our waitress but this is easily fixed by having the host present all at seating. 2. I saw some amazing service staff in the restaurant, unfortunately, our main waitress was not one of them. We waited more than 45 minutes to get our first entrée to our second and third. She made a show of new plates and silverware but something was forgotten. This is a detail but It was my Son’s birthday and they asked about it on arrival and made sure they knew who was having a birthday. We ordered multiple deserts but not even a candle made the ask hard to understand. This is an easy fix. Jason who was part of the leadership team on the floor also ignored our table but talked to those around us. I let him know as we were leaving that the men’s room was and had been out of paper towels for some time. If the food had not been amazing this would be a different review. They will fix these issues but if you are looking for the full experience go to Emerils and SKIP 34 until they have time to work out staff issues and overall coordination. At almost $600 including tip for 5 people 34 disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed 34. The food, the service, the hospitality, and the ambience were all fantastic. We ordered multiple small plates and only one main course. The cone (Iberian ham and St George cheese), special sardines, and chouriço mouro (blood sausage) were wonderful starters. We then had the chilled crab salad and the octopus with a side of batatas bravas. The octopus was grilled and then added to a “stew” which gave it a different flavor that was delicious. The potatoes were a highlight of the meal! The crab salad was quite good as well, but to our taste, the least impressive of an otherwise VERY impressive meal. For dessert, of course, we had to have the pasteis de nata. We also had the Port Chocolate cake comprising many layers, textures, and flavors. Overall, a great experience and one we are looking forward to repeating.

34 Restaurant and Bar was exceptional! We were fortunate to get reservations after it was open for less than three weeks, and our entire evening was nothing short of terrific! The food was Portuguese, and was entirely authentic and exceptionally well done. The service was friendly, professional, and didn't miss a beat. I would add is that the portions are huge--we couldn't come close to finishing it all!!!! The piri piri chicken was an entire chicken, and it was delicious! The wines were great, and the sommelier was terrific, funny, and informative. For a very new restaurant, 34 didn't miss a beat. Well done!!!
