Years ago 219 was a cozy restaurant that felt upscale. We wanted to try it out again since it had been so long since we were there last and were really disappointed in the atmosphere (the space has no discernible personality, the lighting is weird, the furniture is basic, the flooring doesn’t match the wood). The food was fine but again pretty basic. The waitress was nice enough but let us know she was only filling in and didn’t know much about the menu. With everything being so expensive these days we are going to stick with the places we know do a great job on atmosphere, food and staffing. We will do ‘basic’ at home.

Jasmine our server was great. I didn’t care for my drink or dessert very much but overall We had a great experience and will be back.

Good and service was excellent! I learned restaurant was owned by same group that owns Byrd & Baldwin! It was very busy and noisy on a Friday night, but service was exceptional and prompt. I would go again in a minute.

We come to 219 Bistro several times a year. It is consistently good and we really enjoy the restaurant week menu. Tonight the food was excellent but we did have one issue with a very undercooked filet that was served to my wife. We informed our server and received it back 5 mins later a little more done. As for the other items, the she crab soup and Santa Fe Penne was excellent and we enjoyed our drinks too.

My rating of noise level was all about the loud pop music playing during the meal. It made for a casual experience that clashed badly with the attempt at an elevated, expensive menu. The meal itself was highly ordinary. This kind of price range should indicate clever and well cooked dishes. There was nothing special at all. I could have made a tastier pasta dish at home. Our server was attentive and sweet.

The food was pretty good. The charcuterie board had Ritz crackers on it, which to me is unnecessary. The salmon was OK, I’ve had it there before and it’s been better. The location of the restaurant is great for Chrysler Hall and the Scope in Norfolk, so it served a great purpose for our pre-show dinner. I would go back.

Service was not good, took 20 minutes to get a glass of wine & a bourbon on the rocks. It seemed our server was either not very experienced or had too many tables. My pork was undercooked and the cauliflower mash was cold.
