One worries, as Chef Schenker continue to expand his venues, that the quality of his early ones would suffer (I call this the Schaudel effect.) Happily that does not seem to be the case at all. Dinner at 2 Spring yesterday was outstanding. The standout dish was the Duck over Cassoulet, but all 4 courses were excellent, as was my cocktail. As long as the food quality continues to be this good, I'll be going back again and again.

Terrific greeting upon arrival. Sommelier recommended a terrific Sicilian wine Service and food was stellar. Recommend this place to all.

Two girlfriends and I went out last night to celebrate our friend having her first baby. We all did the 4 course tasting menu and I can’t stop raving about it. The food was phenomenal. Loved the full sized portions. Great spot

Our experience was mixed. We did the four-course prix fixe and selected different items. The first-course crab stuffed zucchini blossom and Hamachi Crudo were excellent. Pasta appetizers were extremely salty. Scallop and Halibut entrees were average. Go with the Tiramisu for dessert. Plenty of wait staff and a lovely setting. Our waiter was very knowledgeable without overdoing it. We don't like being fawned over.

2 Spring is one of many Long Island restaurants with pretensions to be a fine dining establishment. It's not. The noise level alone takes it out of that category. We found it almost impossible to have a normal dinner conversation. While the four course prefix is a bargain by Long Island standards, two of our dishes had way over-cooked elements; a case of fine ingredients done not so well. The wine list is the epitome of pretensions. Bottles for hundreds of dollars, nothing g appropriate to the $99. menu. Some of the bottles are five times the retail cost. All in all, while we had a fairly nice meal, we won't be returning to 2 Spring.
