Our name, inspired by the year the building was built, pays homage to its history as the first electric generation station in Norwalk, then a hat factory, and later a home to beloved restaurants. 1920 Bar and Bistro is a tribute to the past, presenting a fresh concept with classic cocktails, craft beer, and a diverse, seasonal menu inspired by contemporary American cuisine.

Prepared by a Mexican-born maestro, who enriched his culinary journey with a passion ignited by the finesse of Italian cuisine. Chef Lazaro has honed his skills in prestigious kitchens such as Pane E Benne in Westport, Paci in Southport, Blue Lemon in Westport, and Bridge Market in Westport. Drawing inspiration from his Mexican roots and a love for the flavors of Italian gastronomy, Chef Lazaro Alvarado brings a unique approach to 1920 Bar and Bistro’s 'New American' menu that is both inventive and rooted in global tradition.

Good experience. We went to see a live band. I didn't enjoy my drink. Had the Rockin Strawberry Mojito. Had to much Lime juice and mint. He had Bourbon. Appetizers were good. We had Mussels with Spicy Sausage. For dinner He had the NY strip steak w/ Jasmine Rice vegetables. I had the Soy glazed Salmon with Jasmine rice and Vegetables. The portion of Rice was so small. It literally was the size of a 50 cent quarter. The Vegetables were supposed to be Asparagus, they gave us Broccoli Rabe. ( Too bitter) Overall it was a good experience. Next time I probably will just try the specialty pizza.

We enjoyed a very nice dinner at 1920Bar&Bistro. The food was excellent and the service was great! The overall atmosphere was most pleasant! Thank you for a great dining experience!

Awful. First, our server was excellent, and that’s where it ended. The front desk didn’t have our reservation which was important because we had guests meeting us. We were taken to a lovely table by a window. We ordered drinks at 7:10. When our server came to take our dinner order at 7:30 the drinks still hadn’t arrived. They had one bartender for a full bar, plus they were holding two events that night. Drinks finally arrived at 7:55. The first course salad didn’t arrive till 8:10 and as we were taking our second bites the main course arrived. Result: lukewarm steaks, which were gristly, lukewarm burger, soggy vegetables. Felt sorry for our server who kept apologising. Have been here 3 times before and left very good reviews. Won’t be back.

Tuesday was the Pasta Night with pasta specialties. Our pasta dishes were outstanding. Large portions and a very attentive wait staff. Excellent value.

Excellent meal, always warm and inviting and a fresh menu from the last time I was there. Love the staff and the new bartenders....they always make the evening special. Thank you. PS the air-conditioning could be bcooler on a sweltering day like my last visit:-)

I hardly ever do this, but this was an awful experience and we left before ordering food. 1) They were understaffed. 1 person at the bar 2) Amazingly unprofessional bartender. She moved us due to bar seats being too close to a table (why have bar seats there then?), took 15 minutes to serve one of my guests a Manhattan, asked for her tip to be in cash, and then, which I still find hard to believe, she did tequila shots with another customer, sucking on lemon wedges before serving the next customer 3) We had booked a table for 4. Even though we were at the bar for 20 minutes after checking in they showed us to a table for - and set for - 6 people. We removed 2 of the chairs and waited to be served. When no-one showed up to take our order for another 15 minutes we gave up and went to another restaurant I usually only do restaurant reviews on Open Table when I have something positive to say, but this was so awful I wanted to warn other Open Table members. As you can’t proceed with a review unless you score food quality, I selected a score, but cannot comment as we lost all hope of our order being taken.
