1881 Steakhouse and Burger Bar is a modern-day saloon that serves delicious smoked and braised side ribs smothered in our signature Kansas mild BBQ sauce, juicy steaks cut in house from a specially selected ‘AAA’ Canadian Angus Beef, fresh never frozen gourmet burgers, jumbo wings that are brought in-house daily with 15 different wing sauces to choose from, and don't forget about our Atlantic haddock dipped in our house made beer batter and always fried to perfection.

Loved the ambience of this place! The cowboy feel was so much fun and the pricing felt really fair on the menu. Our server Brie was also lovely. The only thing we were dissapointed by were the burgers. They were a bit dry and not too flavourful.

The Western is located in the heart of downtown Guelph, where there are a wide array of dining establishments that cater to the pub grub crowd to the haute cuisine gourmands. If you seek good value and a decent dining experience, that's somewhere in the middle ——look no further. JG

Good value for money spent. Compared to many other restaurants, including the Keg, the Western is my first choice. Keep up the great work.

1881 is an authentic rustic feeling restaurant with a nice decor, which we noticed upon entering and even while sitting at our table. Serve was excellent! We were greeted immediately upon entry, seated promptly with menus and drinks offered right away. Drinks were served quickly and our orders taken. The server continually checked on us throughout our meal and even after as we relaxed and enjoyed a couple bottles of wine. We ordered two different steaks and a burger. All was excellent and worthy of a steak house. Steaks were cooked to perfection and were well enjoyed. Burger was large, well dressed, and tasted great! We will be back for sure!

This has always been one of my go-to's in downtown Guelph and I'm happy to say there is a new chef in town! Wow, the food is absolutely impeccable! The daily deals are also fantastic when considering a budget. So excited to see the patios starting to be built throughout the downtown, this patio always seems to catch the perfect amount of sun!

So so good! First time I've been and I will be back. Steak was amazing. Veggies were fresh. Hidden Gem downtown Guelph!!
