It just wasn’t good. The server was inattentive. Food was very slow to the table. A $75+ steak came out overcooked. Creamed spinach smelled like dirty clothes. The server never asked how we liked the food despite a lot of it not being eaten. Overall it was a bad experience.

The restaurant was lively and people enjoying themselves. The service is excellent as well as the food. I look forward to going to 1870 every chance I get.

We were excited to dine at this restaurant, as the chef has an incredible resume. I ordered the filet w/shallot, merlot butter, and the caesar salad. The salad was great, very garlicky, which if you are a garlic lover it was amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked, and delicious. The butter was a nice accompaniment to the steak. Service was good, not over the top or attentive, but good. It is very loud on a Saturday night, which made conversation hard to hear.

This was our second time at 1870 and it was as good as the last time. Mia took great care of us and she was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu. As she described everything, I wanted to order them all. We ended up ordering just about the same thing we did when we first came because it was so amazing. Everyone is s welcoming, and the food is delicious. This is our favorite restaurant and plan to be back at least once a month. If you have not visited here, you need to. You will not be disappointed.

I was impressed that our waitperson had notes on her notepad regarding ingredients and how each dish was prepared; she didn't know the origin of the oysters but left to ask and returned to tell me (I only like salt-water oysters).

Food and ambience was excellent. Impressed with the presentation, flavor and quality of the meal I had as well as the service and beautiful decor of the dining area. What a gem in Midlothian!

This was easily some of the freshest, flavorful, and finely curated menu. Everything we had was delicious. The complimentary bread and butter was heavenly. Food was cooked to perfection and well prepared. Personally, not a big veggie guy, but green beans were *chefs kiss*. Jacob was our server and outstanding service, great manners, and always attentive. Outstanding job, 1870 crew! This was the perfect date night spot.

Wonderful evening started at bar upstairs while table was prepared. Then seated at a comfortable table in the dining room by windows to front porch. Made the space quieter and more private. Food and service were excellent. We are regular patrons of Midlothian Chef’s Kitchen and were not disappointed. 1870 is a destination/special occasion restaurant for us to return to in the future.
