With sweeping views of the World Heritage Site, 1830 Restaurant & Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxed meal with friends. Our menu uses fresh seasonal produce sourced from local growers and producers and you can choose your favourite refreshment from our range of fine Tasmanian wines, craft beers and spirits.     The view and the ambience are fantastic. The service was fast and polite. We ordered a wine and then the experience went downhill. They were out of 3 of the 5 proteins on the menu! Maybe should have mentioned that before we ordered drinks. We were at a 6:15 sitting so the night had hardly started. Unfortunately, we didn't eat there in the end. However, would like to try it again as a beautiful setting and view.

    Our food was excellent, and so was the food! The wallaby was delicious and so was the hasselbank potatoes

    Delicious selection of food, perfect for sharing with a group. The view over the ruins was a lovely backdrop. Lovely selection of wines and other beverages. Hassleback pototes and damper a highlight.

    From the moment you enter friendly and knowledgeable staff take care of your every need and the food and wine is to die for. Sourced locally wherever possible you can taste the love and care that goes into these dishes using the freshest of ingredients. Value is also exceptional. Do yourself a favour and weather your visiting or local book yourself into 1830!

    We totally enjoyed our evening, from the warm welcome to the knowledgeable wait staff that served us our drinks and food. As to the food, it was fresh locally sourced seafood, vegetables and beef and was expertly prepared and delivered by the MasterChef and their team. 10/10 for hospitality, warmth and ambience with an amazing outlook to Tasmania’s very early history.

    Warning, this place only sells craft beer and don't have many other drink options on the menu. The meals taste ok but are very small

    The flavours did not match on the plate. They are dosses that sound good on a menu but just don’t work

    The space was lovely with view on the historic site of Port Arthur. The restaurant not busy with less than half of the tables taken. Given that, our waiter appeared less than rehearsed and clearly disinterested and forgetful. It will stick in my mind that he dropped a fork to the floor and never returned to collect it so that my daughter ended up picking it up. The food was only warm and none of the quite pricey mains had vegetables. The fish, lamb and steak were dry and lacked seasoning. It is a shame given this beautiful location but I would only return for drinks with warm olives and fries served with aioli.
