We sat at the bar over outside in the heat and Ivan the bartender was wonderful! It was our first time. Great drinks and service. The wine list could use a little tweaking in my opinion.

Loved sitting on the outdoor patio. We were there for the sunset which was beautiful. We were also privy to the cranes and other shore birds flying over the lake in front of us to roost in the nearby trees. It was magical. Our service was excellent! Our waiter was Carlos, and he was great! My husband left his credit card there (by mistake , of course) and they were kind enough to hold it for us until we could return and pick it up. We were a bit disappointed in the food, however. All dishes were very rich / almost overpowered by the sauces. We ordered the char grilled oysters to share. Didn’t think they were great. I ordered the crab cake, which was large and a nice size for entree. There was quite a bit of lump crab meat on the outside, but stuffed with “I don’t know what” on the inside. Also surrounded by a very rich sauce. My husband ordered the stuffed flounder, which was also very rich. I would suggest that they offer a more simple preparation of the fish. We have so many wonderful fresh fish on the gulf coast, and just a grilled, blackened or sautéed item on the menu would be a good addition. However, I am so grateful to the staff for keeping our credit card safe and sound and returning it to us! We will be back😊

True prime steaks grilled perfectly to order. Food presentation is polished and visually appealing. Service was attentive without being intrusive. This is not a large property so the feeling is intimate and friendly.

I had the wedge salad, filet, fries and crème brûlée for dessert. The filet was delicious and perfectly cooked; the other items were fine. We sat by the window overlooking the water and sunset which was very nice. Service was timely and noise level was quiet. We dined during the week though so it may be different on the weekends. I would recommend this restaurant for a nice night out.

Fantastic food and service. Took a large group from a conference here and wasn't disappointed. Our server Elissa did a fantastic job and everyone enjoyed everything from appetizer's to dessert. Will definitely be back.

New dining experience for us when visiting Galveston. Excellent atmosphere! Excellent waitstaff! Excellent menu and food presentation! Excellent flavor! A bit expensive but definitely worth the price if you are wanting to spoil the bride! We’ll be back!!!!!!!

Small neighborhood gem. Good food and libations. Outside does have mosquito issues but that’s normal for Galveston.

We enjoyed the experience as our first time at 1817. The food was excellent and the wine list was very good. The noise level was very high and that was a bit annoying. We had a very good waiter, but he ghosted us for about 15 minutes and that was a shame. It prevented me from having another glass of wine. Overall, a good experience, but because of the noise level, I will be judicial in what occasions I will have there.
