1573 Bar & Grill is a local independent restaurant first opened in August 2009 and is located in Grammar School Court within the external area. Meals are prepared using only the best fresh seasonal produce; with fine wines & champagnes, serving light bites, lunch & dinner.

In our unique surroundings, we promise to deliver to you a fantastic meal, in a warm friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

The menu includes Steaks, Seafood, open sandwiches and fresh salad's, perfectly char-grilled with a selection of mouth-watering sides and a selection of sauces world so you can choose your flavour of the day.
Situated at the front of the building is our benched terraced area where you can enjoy drinks and dining overlooking the external area of Highcross.

We have been to 1573 quite a few times, the staff are always friendly and welcoming, the food has always been well made and presented. Restaurant is well laid out, you never feel like you are cramped.

Got our starter before drinks .3 staff at one table closes at 10pm. Food nice but to much and mains came put straight after starter felt like we were rushed with food . But lovely place. Lovely staff

Fabulous meal using a Groupon voucher. Staff were friendly and service very quick. A perfect evening.

So sorry about this but your lunch menu is not very good plus it’s too expensive for people whom are on a Pension we booked in but we left as there was no food we thought was lunch time food , you need to do a set menu for lunch time what people can afford. Thank you. Mrs Mackness

Upon entering the music was way too loud and the lad who welcomed us was initially hanging out outside and when he came in spoke in a soft voice so couldn’t hear or understand what he was saying. He gestured us in the direction of the table, but yet again, with the loud music I had to confirm back to him which table of which he didn’t hear because of the music being so loud. I then decided to pick a table and then he turned the music down to a more acceptable level. Service was quite prompt ordering drinks. Also asked if we was ready to order off which we wasn’t. Upon serving drinks he was reaching across the table of which I thought was very rude. What happened to serving from the left? Is this a dying mode of politeness these days? Or just lazy staff? The lad saw his mate coming in and ran out the door to welcome him and sat them right next to us and spoke to each other quite loudly to the point where we couldn’t hear ourselves take and I had to tell me son that I couldn’t hear him because of them talking loudly right beside us. They took the hint and quietened down. The young lady took our order afterwards and from entering to receiving for was about 40 minutes. They brought everything over but had to wait for my son’s fries. The food was quite nice, but the scampi was well overcooked. The coating was a dark brown rather than golden and the scampi was tough and rubbery. This is my third visit here and each time has been exemplary except on this occasion of which I felt bitterly disappointed in the general attitude of the young lad working there and the slip in the standard of food.

The waiting staff were really lovely and friendly, polite and cheery and they were on it, there was no standing around chatting whilst people waited to have their tables cleared. The food was quick and nice and the environment was really quiet and relaxed which we loved. My only gripe is that the food was very expensive for what it was, which was pretty standard. It was all well cooked and nicely prepared but we spent over £200 and I wouldn't necessarily say the food quality was comparable to somewhere like miller and carter.
