1573 Bar & Grill is a local independent restaurant first opened in August 2009 and is located in Grammar School Court within the external area. Meals are prepared using only the best fresh seasonal produce; with fine wines & champagnes, serving light bites, lunch & dinner.

In our unique surroundings, we promise to deliver to you a fantastic meal, in a warm friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

The menu includes Steaks, Seafood, open sandwiches and fresh salad's, perfectly char-grilled with a selection of mouth-watering sides and a selection of sauces world so you can choose your flavour of the day.
Situated at the front of the building is our benched terraced area where you can enjoy drinks and dining overlooking the external area of Highcross.

We Love the food here. The steak is the best ever! Friendly personable service always. Oliwva always remembers exactly how we like our drinks etc. Top marks!

Good quality food, ambience and service. I love it here as I always have a great dining experience. We were served by Fatima who was very attentive and had a very warm presence.

Service was good but steak was rare and cold when ordered medium rare. Steak was also fatty and really chewy, so much so that I left most of mine. Not what you’d expect for the price. Onion rings were nice but a tad greasy inside. I’ve no doubt that I could have sent my steak back but by then my partner would have finished his food and we were also in a rush so didn’t have time to wait for it to be redone. Restaurant was a really nice vibe and staff were friendly but for the price and quality of the food I’m not sure I’d return again.

Booked a table for my son and I for his birthday 4 Feb ,we both had 3 courses and all the food was amazing ! Staff were both professional and very friendly couldn't fault the service ! Top notch !!! A little bit pricey but was well worth every penny , delicious!!! Will definitely be back !

Soup not warm enough. Very few options on Groupon menu with paying for extras. No sweet course available for Groupon, must have starter then main. Music inappropriate for a restaurant, and was too loud.

Superb meal. Great steak ( Taylor’s of Derbyshire so you will never go wrong) perfectly cooked. Also excellent sea bass. The profiteroles and chef made sauce are dangerously good! Wonderful service, attentive without hovering and lovely to chat to. Booked for a larger group visit in February on the spot. First rate.

Terrible had no food on the menu, pretty much could’ve just been a bar (if they had any drink that is) got there expecting an nice meal with the family for my birthday and they decided to not let us know till we were there that there was no steak at all on the menu at all steak bar an grill restaurant👌🏼 would not recommend, u less you just fancy a £20 drink per person
