We love The Publick House! We have been there many times. It seems extra special in the fall. I had a delicious spiced apple pie cocktail which totally set the mood for the slightly chilly day. We had New England Clam Chowder for apps and I had chicken pot pie for dinner. Pot pie was good, chowder was great. Dessert was warmed apple pie with vanilla ice cream. This was excellent. The Publick House is always great for ambiance. Established in 1771, it continues that true New England vibe to present day. We had dinner in the Historic Tap room. I like this slightly better than the Ebenezer tavern. Fabulous day. And the gardens look beautiful!!

We first ate here in 1972 in the traditional tavern room. We live in Central New York and any time we are in the Sturbridge area we eat here. High quality old school food and a historic traditional setting is the constant standard at the Public House. Over 50 years later we have never been disappointed to eat at the Public House.

It's not our first time here as we've been many times over many years....but not recently. You can't go wrong with a visit to the Publick House for a New England-style meal experience. The building is on the National Historic Register and is so charming. The Ebenezer Tavern has a nice ambiance. Lucky couples might be assigned to one of several tables for two that have comfy upholstered wing chairs. Other tables are styled with Windsor chairs. The staff are all friendly and efficient....and VERY busy! It's a popular place, so reservations are certainly suggested! The family in front of me did not have a reservation, and the host worked hard to accommodate them in the dining room successfully. Our server was also very good. Food was delicious, as expected! The butternut squash bisque was just perfect....not sweet as many can be...but a silky reflection of the true taste of fresh butternut. My husband's turkey dinner was a tasty Thanksgiving on a plate, and my cod with lemon dill sauce was so fresh and delicious. They have a decent selection of wines by the glass and lots of specialty cocktails and beers to satisfy those who imbibe. We were happy to see that quality and service are still as good since last we visited. Thanks to all the staff for a great evening!

We had a great waitress. The food was delicious. The bread basket was delicious with the pecan rolls and corn muffins. We enjoyed it very much!

The whole experience was very nice. My guest was running quite late but they moved our reservation back so all was fine. And they couldn't have been nicer. Nathan our server was excellent.
