Very disappointing. The oysters were not very well cleaned or prepared (both the raw and the fried). Our cocktails were good and our server was nice, but we did not want to order entrees, considering how the the starters were.

We arrived as it opened and were seated with our reservation right away. Our server Erin was lovely. The food was spectacular. Totally would go again

As always, an outstanding experience! This is our go to spot in town. I always appreciate how consistently delicious the food is, and the friendliness of the staff. First time sitting in the outdoor space, and it was so much fun! Our 6:15 reservation worked out perfectly to make an 8:00 show at The Jefferson. I continue to highly recommend Public Fish and Oyster!!!

If you like seafood, this is your spot! The food is delicious. We enjoyed two dozen oysters, Mahi Mahi and crab cakes. The crab cakes were simply delicious! Our service was a tad slow but the place was packed! The outside tables were probably quieter, but the bar side is very loud! If we're ever in Charlottesville again, we'll seek out this restaurant!

The food and service was excellent. However the spacing was too crowded and much too loud for casual dining.

We 've been to Public several times for an early Happy Hour dinner and it never disappoints. The service is always great if you have an event to get to, as we did this time. I made a game-time switch from my normal lobster roll (which are excellent) or fried oysters (also excellent) and got the crab pasta. Nicely prepared but I hoped for a little more southwest heat plus the crab can get a little lost in a flavorful pasta dish like this. Very good but not a favorite. My wife's oyster po'boy was outstanding and I always love their house salad.

Visiting from outv of town. Was a great experience from the moment we walked into the door to the moment we left. The attention to detail was above and beyond. I made the reservation over a week ago - it was our anniversary and as soon as we sat down we were met with champagne. The wait staff was very attentive to an allergy my wife has. Highly recommend!!

We have dined here multiple times. It has never disappointed us. We choose to dine on the patio. Out service has always been exceptional and attentive. Highly recommend if you enjoy seafood.
