English Natural Wines Dinner with Ham Street Wines

Lucie and Jules from Ham Street Wines will be our guests - they have been farming their vines on the Kent coast using regenerative methods for about five years now and are already producing a raft of incredible wines. They will be bringing along bottles from the 2021, ‘22 & ‘23 vintages to share with us. Head Chef Matty Dykes will be putting together a fitting menu to celebrate the transition from summer to autumn. Beginning with smaller dishes like: rollmops or glazed ham with green bean chutney and following with more substantial fare such as skate wing with perinkles and capers and venison, plums and celeriac. Expect a menu showcasing the best of the transitional season.

Cod roe on toast was outstanding and the caponata with artichokes was absolutely stunning! Hats off to the chefs.

The food is so bad here. Felt like I paid £100 to eat kitchen leftovers. One of the plates I had was nectarine and cucumbers cut up in uneven chunks covered in olive oil. For £13 !!! Why am I being served food that I could prepare better at home. Me and my partner stayed purely for the humour of it. Aubergine and baked beans was another. 0 skill. 0 finesse. I think this place should advertise themselves as a wine bar with fridge snacks.

Loved our visit. Great staff and knowledgeable on menu and wine lists. Got slightly cold with the breeze and doors open but otherwise food was good and reasonable value. Ambience is great

Really looking forward to this as love their other restaurant Western Laundry but overall came away disappointed. Awful table in a corner by the open doors with our backs to the whole restaurant didn’t exactly make us feel welcome. There were some sensational dishes like the Creamed Corn and the Hake Beignets but others were good but not great, like the quail (which as a sharing dish didn’t deliver much meat each). Service great. Had a couple of drinks each but no wine so £150 seemed poor value for what we had.

From looking at reviews, we had high expectations and Primeur did not disappoint. Each dish was well thought out and seasoned expertly. The service aspect was given a 4/5 only because we were seated at the bar and it is naturally a different experience from the table. Will return and recommend.

Wonderful friendly atmosphere, with very welcoming and informative staff. Food very varied, fresh and delicious and an excellent selection of wines.

Primeur is one of my favourite go-tos. Great vibes, fantastic service and food. Love sitting at the bar looking into the kitchen.
