Le Primeur est un restaurant avec comptoir occupant un ancien garage automobile des années 1920 situé entre Hackney et Islington. Il sert des spécialités du jour de style britannique et européen à partager. Truly excellent food in roughly the vein of River Cafe / Petersham Nurseries but those places give you a table of your own. Here you must sit with others at a general table or - as we did when we came as a two - sit side by side at a bar on the side. Fine, but at that point the very high prices and quick brusque service becomes unacceptable. The St John Bread and Wine is a bit like this but somehow a lot nicer. You can't charge people £25 - £35 for a main and yet give them the atmosphere of a canteen. We won't be coming back.

We had a great time and service and food was incredible! Just a quick note that we did flag my friend is allergic to wild garlic - throughout the evening she started to feel really unwell, her face swelled up and kept sneezing and we realised this is because the tables had allium flowers that are part of the wild garlic family. No one's fault at all just thought I'd flag and explain why we rushed out and didn't stay for desert.

Favorite place in islington. Always has something new to try on the menu. Great staff.

This is one of my fave go to spots in London. Food is consistently excellent and service and atmosphere are great!

A trip to London and a visit to an old favourite - Primeur. A marvellous choice for meeting up with pals. Great food (turbo(t) driven) and beverages. Helpful and knowledgeable servers. The only off note was the hard sell on wine and fizz. An unforgettable occasion nonetheless - such a good room.

Service was perfect. Food was excellent a little small portions which isnt a criticism of the venue more just don't go expecting to leave STUFFED. Got recommended a white wine from the Loire which was a nice tart wine on a hot day. I would keep going to try a new wine each time excellent place.

Really lovely atmosphere but the food was a let down. Very small sharing plates which were generally ok (albeit uninspiring & a little bland) but the most substantive plate (lamb at £29) was poor - unseasoned and lacking in flavour. It also arrived half an hour after everything had been finished/cleared away - we had chased it up as it had obviously been forgotten & were told the delay was due to them only having 2 chefs on. Very poor. Wildly overpriced wine list. There are much better restaurants to visit.
