Established in 1976, We are one of the oldest Portuguese and Spanish restaurants on the east coast. Attentive service, delicious authentic food, generous portions and refreshing sangria—these are the hallmarks of the Fisherman. Since our opening in 1976 we have consistently upheld the traditions of fine Portuguese and Spanish dining in central New Jersey.

Our first visit and we are wondering how we could have missed this great spot. Excellent service by Arthur. We had lots of help choosing a Portuguese wine that we really enjoyed. The house salad is quite nice and the dressing described as Portuguese thousand island was very tasty. The clams steamed in wine with garlic were perfect. We shared the stuffed flounder. The sharing charge is worth it as the portion was quite large and then there was room for dessert!! Flan was delectable. We will return soon

Everything seemed good…. reservation honored on time, service very good, food appeared great, tasted great. Good Portuguese rolls w/ garlic/seasoned butter, nice side salad with fresh greens/house dressing. Huge portions of tasty cubed pork/clams/potatoes, tasty salted cod, tasty rice and seafood. All three of use brought substantial portions home. Unfortunately, the party who had the rice and seafood suffered serious intestinal distress within 2 hours after leaving the restaurant, and is still uncomfortable. Interestingly, a review posted on Yelp in July (last month) related a similar problem after eating here.

We are Frequent customers of this restaurant and last night we brought another couple to try the Paella Valencia. They loved the dish and were hooked and will come back again soon.

It is always a great meal whenever we go. Our go-to's are the chicken in garlic sauce and the pork chops in garlic sauce. A pitcher of red sangria is the perfect match to wash that all down. The staff came by often to check on us, which shows excellent service. There was only one hiccup on this visit: I requested an after-dinner drink with my dessert. The dessert came and was finished with no drink. I did have to flag one of the staff to let them know. The drink came immediately afterward. It would have been nice to have the drink with the dessert. You may not want to ask for a booth if you prefer a little less noise. The booths are close to the bar and TV's. Their other dining room is not as noisy. The food quality and quantity quickly make up for those little concerns.
