The marriage of these two culinary cultures is reflected in our menu, which includes small plates like Crying Tiger Gyoza and Thai Larb Tuna as well as larger dishes like 11 Tigers Tom Yum Ramen—tonkatsu ramen with jumbo prawn—and Black Panther Curry, squid ink fettuccine in makrut lime scented Thai Panang curry topped with seared ribeye steak.

The destination for authentic Isaan cuisine from Northeastern Thailand has received numerous accolades, including a 3-star review from Pete Wells of The New York Times, and being listed two years in a row on the NYT’s 100 Best Restaurants in NYC as well as being nominated as a semifinalist in the outstanding Restaurateur category for the 2024 James Beard Foundation Awards. Zaab Zaab is also recognized as a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. “My original thinking when we opened the restaurant was to serve the local Thai community in Elmhurst,” says Chunton. “Clearly I underestimated New York City’s appetite for Northeastern Thai food.
