Derrière le projet Modus, il y a Sam Genkov, propriétaire de Bravi Ristorante, un favori depuis 16 ans dans le District, et le chef Bruce Woods qui était chez Brassaii auparavant.
Habitué à la cuisine italienne haut de gamme, Woods a travaillé chez Il Posto vers la fin des années 90, devenant chef exécutif et co-propriétaire de Centro après son remplacement de Marc Thuet. Le menu chez Modus démontre le savoir de Woods et, à sa façon, il transforme des classiques italiens en créations gastronomiques originales..
Le sommelier Ruben Elmer du profil Wine Group, anciennement de chez Canoe et l'Auberge du Pommier, est derrière le choix de plus de 300 bouteilles offertes par le restaurant. La carte propose 10 rouges et huit ou neuf blancs au verre, avec une prédilection pour les vins italiens, californiens et sud-américains.
