The Punchbowl is a 17th century gastro pub, located in the heart of rural Essex and the Crouch Valley and the South Essex Salt marshes. We offer nose-to-tail style menu, with unpretentious dishes that focus on flavour. Everything is made in house - from bread to mayonnaise, and we use local, seasonal and organic ingredients. Our menu changes daily, as the season's best comes in, and always features day boat fish, meat, offal, rare breed steaks and excellent vegetarian cookery.Our beautiful garden bar has a lawn and york-stone patio looking out across the farmland of Paglesham and the River Crouch. Throughout the summer we offer BBQ dining from our hand-cranked Asado and Rotisserie Grills.

This pub is a true gem - on a sunny day, enjoy the outside area near the sea; in winter, settle down by our real fireplace in the warm and cosy pub.     We have eaten here before but tonight they really outdid themselves. The service was prompt, polite and great. The food was tremendous - my partner had the Scallops and Pork Belly to start and the steak for main and both were great. I had the Venison to start and the Duck Breast for main and these were equally fantastic. Both desserts - the Tarte Tatin and Chocolate Torte - were also lovely. Great meal, one of the best we have ever had. We will definitely be back!

    From entering the establishment we were greeted with a very warm welcome. we were able to have a leisurely drink prior to our meal and was also offered the opportunity to have our meal earlier. the food was delicious and the service was very efficient and the staff were very polite and friendly. will definitely be returning again.

    Truly superb ingredients that are cooked to perfection, the waiting staff are very aware of what is needed without being to intrusive.

    We had an amazing afternoon tea, everything was spot on! Service was amazing and everyone so lovely and friendly! Food was immense! Will be back and will recommend to everyone!
