We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex. Our weekend menu is our delicious Asado Grill. A slightly reduced but very tasty BBQ menu, where everything is cooked on our outdoor grill. We advise to book in as we get very busy!

BAYTE, is a modern European neighbourhood restaurant with an emphasis on local sourcing and quality produce in the seaside town of St Leonards-on-Sea. The seasonal menu blends influences from across the globe, with particular reference to Italian recipes, such as hand-rolled pastas.The meat at BAYTE is free-range and reared on biodynamic, organic Haye Farm in Devon. Water Lane is a restaurant based within a working market garden in the High Weald of Kent. Guided by the seasons, our menu reflects its sense of place in the English countryside where we grow our own vegetables and use local suppliers. Our ever changing menu is simple but prepared with imagination and care by our Head Chef Jed Wrobel and his team.The Good Food Guide 2023 describes us as 'A contender for one of the most charming eateries in Kent, it's pretty much impossible to resist the lure of this rural restaurant tucked away in a delightful walled garden...' We are open Friday to Sunday 10am - 4.30pm, serving breakfast 10am to 11.30am and lunch 12pm - 3pm. We serve dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6pm - 8.30pm. Our restaurant is currently located in the Carnation House glasshouse. We welcome well behaved dogs on a leash in our garden.

The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. James is hands-on at the pub, overseeing the relaxed yet lively atmosphere, friendly service and sophisticated food and drink. Great Saturday morning family brunch at Water Lane. Nick and Ian do a brilliant job as hosts and the staff are so friendly and helpful with a large group and young children. Such delicious choices and the banana loaf with maple butter amazing. Great location and the glass houses just make it the most interesting place for brunch, lunch or dinner.

The restaurant was really lovely, service was great even though had a badly chipped glass which was rectified straight away. Staff were very friendly. This will be a special occasion venue as it was a little on the expensive side, but can’t fault anything else.

Food exceptionally good and service was great. Vegetarian food is given just as much care and attention as meat and fish dishes. Only downside is that the restaurant was cold. I’ll make sure I bring a jumper next time!
