Patri has several meanings, in Hindi it means Pavement, in Urdu it means Track and in ancient Sanskrit its means a vessel or small furnace. The name took us back to our origins and we decided to use Pavement, Tracks, and Furnace to come up with a street food menu contains all three elements. Our starters are street food classics on pavements in India and Pakistan. Our grills are freshly cooked in the tandoor at over 400 degrees to replicate cooking in a furnace. Our curries are inspired by the railway cooks on train journeys in India.Founder, Puneet Wadhwani, has created a never-before-seen menu bringing to life the snacks and dishes he once ate as a child growing up within a bicycle ride of New Delhi train stationFrom rail side snacks, such as ‘girlfriend chaat,’ cooked on the platform and handed to travellers through the windows of passing trains, to the fragrant curries, such as, ‘rare ghost,’ cooked on board.

Following the success of his first restaurant in Vauxhall, chef and founder Ajay Chaurasia has opened a second site in Wimbledon, bringing his own personal take on Indian cuisine to South-west London. On offer is a range of lesser-known regional dishes along with plenty of tried-and-tested favourites so there’s something for everyone at this bright and cheerful restaurant. Chaurasia’s aim is to bring together flavours from all over the Indian continent, Sharing appetizers includes the likes of king prawns (Tiltala Jhinga) and sticky tamarind wings with avocado chat - a contemporary spin on the classic street food snack. Tandoor highlights include Murgh Hariyali Tikka, which is grilled chicken breast marinated with fresh green spices and yoghurt, as well as vegan options, too. Amazing food and Indian Moment always delivers. Quality of the meat and prawns is always excellent and they never cut corners. Indian cooking at its best.

The food is amazing and yum. I loved the Tandoori Phool. However, this time I did not have a pleasant experience with the staff. The lady who greeted us at the top was great and was courteous. Later there was a man who came in and started commenting on how long we were there; made small talk and joked about that they have a vacancy to wash dishes etc. If we are paying for the food and service, I don’t think the waiter had any rights to comment on how long we choose to spend there or make such remarks/jokes. Highly unprofessional. We always come to Chatora and take out as well. We had a lot of food and wine but this experience will make me rethink my visit.

The service is as great as the food is. Kind, refined, unobstrusive care for the customers, and an amazing menu of fine indian food from many regions, with the occasional twist of west meets east in the dishes. A wonderful find.
