Rather stark and somewhat chilly environment with dim lighting Food arrived hot and was nice Only had a main course as there was only ice cream offered as a gluten free option and I didn’t fancy that on a cold wet November day Service was good staff quite attentive and not table specific -good at seeing what was needed I had expected something more comfortable from the venue

The quality standard and attention to detail was superb, the best meal in a pub restaurant I've had in years. The staff were xexcellent, friendly and worked extremely hard when the restaurant was pa k. We will be back, if your looking for a quality restaurant with quality food then this is the place, it is on the pricey side but we'll worth that for the standard of food. Thank you

Everything was incredible. Staff were lovely and very attentive and could have a laugh. It’s very relaxed and there was a lovely anniversary card waiting for us when we arrived which we thought was incredibly thoughtful. The food was amazing from starters to dessert. No faults, we would 100% recommend and will definitely visit again. Thank you to all the staff that made our anniversary meal so wonderful.

Superb service by the guy I presume was the manager and by the young waitress. Instant service, very friendly and polite and food delivered piping hot within 15 minutes. We’ve used WAX and The Phoenix as it was previously for 35 years, tonight’s service was probably the best ever. Nice friendly staff nothing to much trouble I had the very tasty steak and Stilton pie and my husband said he’s burger was the best he’d had for a long time
