Pair it with one of our Jerusalem Bagels (baked like a baby sourdough [rather than boiled] and brushed with pomegranate molasses before it gets popped in the oven). Here at Zafferano, we like to keep things a little old school, from sourcing to serving, our key values remain. Simone, the Head Chef and co-owner of Zafferano grew up inside the kitchen of his family's restaurant in Porticello, Sicily and brings that passion and authenticity to his food. A sherwal is a traditional, multi-layered baggy men’s trousers worn in various areas of the Mediterranean. Centuries old, it is a rare sight nowadays, except in remote villages and at traditional cultural ceremonies and, well, at our restaurant. Why name our restaurant after an archaic pants? Because, somehow, this pair of comfortable pants has found its way into our modern world, with little tweaks here and there taking the form of harem pants or baggy jeans, fusing the old with the new. And this is what we want to do. We want to take old culinary masterpieces from the Mediterranean and fuse them together, with new flavours here and there, adding new colours and new tastes to the table.

We did not know what to expect and we were blown away by the food and the service. Great but limited Greek wines too and reasonably priced. The carpaccio and the tarama were knock out as were the brussel sprouts.
