Just rating this particular visit. Service was subpar. There was a birthday party prior to my reservation and it really seemed to throw a lot off for them. Many of us who had reservations were standing around the front of the restaurant just waiting to be seated. The owner tried to help see people but I think she made it a little worse for those of us who are patiently waiting. She would see her regulars even the ones who came after all of us. She didn't even see people in the order they arrived or the order of their reservations. People with no reservations it just happened to be standing in a better spot or seated before those of us with reservations. They just kept saying they had a party was slowing down their service but at this point the party was gone. When we were finally seated I was server must have been overworked because he was not remotely pleasant. I don't need friendly but I don't need rude either. I asked about a specific appetizer and the service is mumbled to me that it takes a long time. I ordered something else. My appetizer came about 15 minutes before my husband's appetizer came. I tried to wait for him but basically he ended up watching me eat.My reservation was 5:30. My main course did not come to my table until 7:00. It was just two of us. At that point we just asked him to wrap it up for us to take home. But there are other people who were seated the same time we were in our section and they had different server and they were finished with their meal when my husband just received his appetizer. But I also saw their server was more pleasant and seemed to have a better system going. Told myself I would have to give this place a break but the food is very good. So we shall see

Pearl East is an oriental gem. The most surprising items on the menu are the sushi rolls, arguably the best anywhere. Locals in the know queue up for this amazing experience. Dim sum epitomizes the chef’s attention to detail and is a must have. My favorite entrée is the Peking duck in sesame wrap, prepared at the table. I have eaten at the Michelin rated Dadong in Beijing and this surpasses that experience. The meal is capped with outstanding pours. An esoteric Vespa ‘up’ was done to perfection. My party had Martinis and Manhattans which were superb. This is a local gem that deserves wide recognition.

Kathy who is the owner is the best hostess anywhere and her entire staff and food is consistently excellent . Pearl East is the only Chinese restaurant I eat in because no other place compares. They also serve excellent sushi…always fresh.

Pearl East offers a wide variety of Chinese/Asian food in an environment that is more white cloth restaurant than the large majority of this ethnic food. Dishes that can be had at most restaurants are a step or two above here both in quality and quantity. Special dishes, of which there are many, are made with excellent meats and seafood. One qualm is that too often the amount of sauce is hit or miss. Sometimes way too much and others hardly anything. Pays to ask for sauce on the side to add if you wish. Also, the crunchy noodles we all love to munch on are sometimes a bit stale and tasteless. Overall Pearl East is still a good bet for classic and inventive Chinese/Asian food.

By far the best Chinese food and Sushi available. Each dish is prepared in the traditional way and plated to perfection. The owner, Cathy, goes out of her way to make you feel like you're dining in your own home, bringing you food that continues to surprise.

Food always fabulous. Very noisy large party next to us so noise level higher than usual. Also incredibly busy and had a special dinner at that table. But servers were very attentive even if kitchen was a little slow
