Open since 2002 Palmettos on the Bayou is a charming and elegant Acadian style restaurant serving classic Creole dishes highlighting fresh Louisiana ingredients.

Set on the tranquil Bayou Bonfouca near Old Town Slidell, our waterfront restaurant/event venue is known for its southern charm. Palmettos famous Brunch features live Jazz Saturday and Sunday. The 5,000sqf covered deck provides a dramatic outdoor setting at night for romantic dinners and a comfortable relaxed atmosphere during the day.

We are honored to have been named Best Brunch, Dining with a View, and Most Romantic by various local publications throughout the years.

We're located at 1901 Bayou Lane, next to Heritage Park.

We celebrated a bday with a party of 12 and could not have had a better experience. Kay our waitress was spot on running around attending to every request. Food was great and the restaurant is beautiful.

Welcome back to the great taste of New Orleans. Dinner on bayou under the evening lights and music. Perfection!

Nice variety of brunch food and pretty good setup as far as getting from each type of food etc. I like that the hours are so vast for brunch (11-4) so you either go early or later. Service was great - nice waitress. However… it was so hot in the entire restaurant omg. We asked if the AC was broken but the waitress said no it’s hot bc it’s summer and outside temp so warm and the front door always opening/closing for brunch-goers that the AC can never catch up. The poor girl was sweating every time she came to the table. One of our elderly friends was so warm he had to ask for a personal fan at the table - which they did provide. So, yes we do recommend going here but def not in summer esp during the day.

Table inside to be cooler but AC not working up to par. Table ready when we arrived. Wine came after I received my entree! Salad romaine was chopped so big, had to cut each piece before I could eat it. Lettuce not chilled nor was the salad plate. Server attentive but waited for check, waited to order and waited for dessert. Runners messed things up . Entrees came before we finished salad, we complained about pacing, she put them down anyway. Turns out meals were for table next to us. Offered complimentary dessert for the above service issues. For the price they should do better. Food was good. Bread basket provided salt and pepper provided and a steak knife. Steak cooked to order but very chewy.

Beautiful setting indoors and outdoors. Wait staff very professional and friendly. Food portions were ample. Our food was served hot and fully cooked. Nice selection of alcoholic beverages. It is not inexpensive but worth it for a special occasion. Country Roads magazine had a nice review so I decided to follow up. This was my first visit, plan to return in the fall with additional guests.

Our reservation was at 5:30. Ordered apps and drinks; that was fine. Ordered entrees that never came. Manager was less than concerned when brought to her attention. Other tables were seated, served and left and we were still waiting. We left at 7:00. We tipped our waitress, paid our bill and left. Terrible. We will not be back and we are telling everyone we know not to go.

This is a beautiful place to dine. The atmosphere is very nice. Not sure what was going on with the hostess but she had a bit of an unpleasant attitude with us and was ignoring us. We got pass that. The food wasn’t as tasty at the buffet as it use to be and it use to have better selection of food, but what they did have was good so we enjoyed it for the most part!
