Orient London is an independent Chinese restaurant in Soho's Chinatown, London.

Our specialities are Dim Sum and seafood, with a focus on Szechuan and Cantonese dishes, plus those from the northern regions of China.

Our aim is to delight and enthuse customers who want to experience delicious, authentic Chinese food that is honestly-priced.

Their toilet was overflowing and they spent our whole meal cleaning up the sewage problem just near our table, including the wait staff. They should have closed the restaurant. Food was not great either. Very unfortunate choice.

Sunday dim sum, always delivers! Faves are turnip cake in xo sauce, prawn cheung fun & the roast pork puffs, so delicious. Go there & feast!

We frequent Orient London quite regularly and it is by far the best East Asian restaurant around - Superb dishes at a very reasonable price with the most efficient service! We’ll be back again soon!

Four of us went for dim sum. This was our first time at Orient, and we went based on the mostly positive reviews and the photos, which suggested a better than average experience. However, we were disappointed: most of dishes were average at best, some were mediocre (eg the mushroom dumplings were stodgy and bland and dumpling soup lacked flavour) and the condiments were too few and rather unpleasant. However, the spicy octopus, though we were surprised it came cold, was very nice. The atmosphere was pleasant. We were glad it was possible to book in advance. What I was particularly unhappy about was the charge of nearly £10 for the standard pot of tea. When I challenged this I was told they charge per cup, not per pot, and this was shown in the menu. Although I had not noticed this when ordering, it was not something I would have looked for - my experience of countless dim sum meals elsewhere was that there would be a basic charge of around £2 for a pot of jasmine tea regardless of how many of us were at the table. In the end I said either they reduce the charge or remove the discretionary service charge (the 10% came to £9). To their credit they agreed, albeit to the latter. There are better dim sum offers to be had elsewhere in Chinatown. We used to be regulars at the Wan Chai Corner, which was far better, but understand it has closed.

This was a big disappointment considering the reviews. The restaurant didn’t feel clean and the tables were old and marked. The hostess was barely hospitable. We ordered prawn crackers which were so awful and bland. The crispy dumplings were nice but served with a very acidic sauce for dipping. The aromatic duck was so dry and the spring onions/cucumber slices looked like they’d been sitting out for hours. Will not be going back here.
