My wife and I were excited to try OIBL for a special celebration dinner. First, the atmosphere is amazing. You feel like you’ve been transported back in time. Our server was very pleasant and answered our questions regarding the menu. My wife started with the buratta and I had the cavatelli. This was my favorite food of the evening, and it was fairly large. We each loved our first dishes! For the main course my wife had the Casserole de Chef and she absolutely loved it! I had the rib eye was disappointing to me. I ordered a medium rare steak and it was overcooked to about medium well. By the time someone came to check, my wife was half way into her entree. I mentioned it to our server who asked if I would like something else but I didn’t want to wait so declined. I had the chocolate soufflé and my wife had the apricot tart. They were ok. There was no offer of coffee or aperitif. In my opinion it was nice, but some key misses for a “high end” meal.

This is our third visit to the restaurant. The price fix menus are great but the Chef’s tasting is even better. Enjoyed all the food and the cocktails were great. The waiter and other staff were exceptional which made for a wonderful evening. When we are back in NYC we will come here again!!

Extremely beautiful space whose food does not live up to its surroundings. Food was good not great. Restaurant was basically empty the whole time we were there. I am sure a fuller active restaurant would have improved the experience

I mixed up my reservation time, but called the restaurant. They were most accommodating and told me they would hold our table. Upon arrival they asked if we wanted drinks at the bar prior to being seated. I had an excellent dry martini with blue cheese stuffed olives and my sister had a yummy pear vodka drink. The prix fixe menus was delicious. Grilled octopus and oysters to start followed by an amazing steak and grilled lamb chops and we both had the chocolate soufflé for dessert. The food was delicious and service was excellent. Highly recommend this hidden gem.

This is our first time in NYC and this is our FIRST restaurant we went to. The whole experience was amazing. Services are so nice and friendly. Everyone welcomed us in as we walked through and everyone smiled at us when talking and introducing the menus and the history of this place. Believe it or not, we just saw The Hamilton show last night and here we are at what used to be Burt’s place. Such a wonderful call back! Food was amazing and we couldn’t even finish desert because we are too full. How can others finish all the courses? That’s unbelievable. Hahah. The lady(customer) at the bar was a bit cloud though, good to her for having a great time. I know the drinks are great! Overall totally worth it and the environment is beautiful and romantic, very suitable for a date. I heard it’s one of the 10 most romantic restaurants in the world. Awesome! Definitely going again next time in NY. Love it!
