This was our first time eating at Nostrana and it did not live up to the hype unfortunately. We ordered fried mozzarella polenta balls which came out quickly and they were cooked perfectly, but plated horribly. The polenta balls were served in a small blue bowl on another plate. When the waitress set it down the balls almost jumped out of the bowl. The flavor could’ve saved this calamity but it was too bland to care. We also ordered the butter crunch salad, plating was again atrocious for a restaurant of this price point. Flavor was delicious finally some complexity of blue cheese and light vinaigrette and sweetened walnuts , but not earth shattering in its execution or creation. And for the finale a simple spaghetti with dungeoness crab. Plating was adequate but underwhelming for a $32 plate of spaghetti. This had some good crab meat but the noodles were a lot more al dente than I prefer. I feel at level that shoulda been explained. Minor issue but let us know so there aren’t surprises. The level of flavor was good but like everything on the night was just missing that one thing that would make the dish shine. Service was the bright shining star and they certainly earn every bit of the 22% automatic gratuity. The dinning room has a stylish and cozy aesthetic but the music they were playing and random levels throughout the 40 minutes it was barely audible to loud enough you had to raise your voice to talk. And music that really didn’t fit the vibe if there was one. If Nostrana was once great it has lost a lot of that spark. 4/10

Great experience. Only the tip think messed with me. Not a big deal but they add 22% and wasn’t sure if we still top or not. Maybe just make everything 22% more expensive Either way I loved it.

We had the radicchio salad, beef and pork gnocchi and tagliata. The salad was so fresh and delicious, the Caesar style dressing was absolutely to die for and it wasn’t overdressed (which is a usual problem for me). The beef and pork gnocchi was soft and tender, and the ragu was so flavorful. The tagliata was cooked to perfection and the chimichurri was the perfect compliment. I’m really glad I didn’t let the string of poor reviews impact my decision to dine here. Perfect atmosphere, impeccable service and some of the best Italian food I’ve had in a while. Brava Nostrana!

The Nostrana salad lived up to its reputation—just wonderful—and we so enjoyed our respective glasses of wine, though the pour is skimpy! The gnocchi was a bit gummy, but good. The trout was outstanding. Best of all: the budino. It’s a dream! The waitstaff at Nostrana are highly professional, kind, funny, accommodating. They make the meal worthwhile. I didn’t love being forced to pay a 22 percent tip, but I probably would have left that much for the terrific employees.
