On practically every calle, salizada and ruga in Venice, you’ll find a Bacaro – a casual place to grab a glass of wine or Prosecco and a bite to eat, known as “cichèti.” Bacari are Italy’s answer to the pub, and cichèti are the Italian answer to Spanish tapas. Italians have an answer for everything. Situated at the rear of the restaurant, our Bacaro upholds the Italian tradition of togetherness. It’s the perfect place to meet friends after work, or to share a casual glass of sparkling wine and a small bite to eat.

Excellent service, lovely ambience! Went here for a birthday dinner and it was exactly what we were hoping for. Intimate and classy. Beautiful menu with flavour in every bite. Even though we didn’t order dessert, they came out with a candle for the birthday celebrant! The portions aren’t overwhelming - it’s definitely a ‘sharing’ situation where you’re advised to get at least two dishes per person. It’s fine dining without trying too hard at all. Wonderful for special occasions. If I could afford it, I’d be back at least once a month!

Beautiful restaurant but unfortunately the food and the service are both needing improvement. From the moment we walked in, we were not greeted but instead directly asked if we had a reservation. We sat at the bar, the bartender who was also our waitress was not particularly helpful nor particularly nice. She also confused our order several times. The food was not good, even in the slightest. The combination of tastes were not to our satisfaction. The plates were cheap on the good more costly ingredients and instead filed with cheap ingredients. The plates were also severely small. We will not be back and seeing how much we spent on the meal, it was not even worth 10% of the price. So disappointed.

There is no easy way to say this but the food was below average. The meatballs in our pasta dish were tough and the sauce had too much cayenne. Our tomato starter was simple but the ingredients didn’t hold up together. The cheese was too runny to eat with cherry tomatoes cut in half. Thinly sliced tomatoes would have been a better approach. The meat starter was the highlight with a very nice kumquat sauce. Lovely! Our waiter got one of drink’s wrong but was really nice and accommodating when we mentioned we didn’t like our pasta dish. Overall this restaurant has lost the detail, finesse and charm it had 5 years ago.

We love North And Navy. However this time we were sadly disappointed. The food was mediocre to poor. The Cichetti bread was too thick and not crusty on the edge, as if the bread was day old. Seabuckthorn berries are tart and while a fabulous addition to a dish were over used in the risotto, really overwhelming the subtleties included in the dish. The Sablefish was overcooked and very underwhelming. There was no point in having desert. The other guests at the table felt the same. Underwhelmed and disappointed. Certainly not worth the price. Time to find a new favourite.

Amazing first experience! I've never had a fine dining experience and this was a perfect place where it was fancy but not 12 different forks and spoons fancy. The food and service was fantastic! My boyfriend and I celebrated our anniversary and we were kindly given congratulations (with an added Prosecco drink). We also went in letting them know our food allergies (no dairy, egg or soy) and they were more than accommodating. Ellen our server was so wonderful explaining everything and ensuring the food allergies were followed for us. We will definitely be back again! ☺️

Sublime expérience. Nous étions sur la petite terrasse sur le côté du restaurant : c'était vraiment mignon (je vous conseille cependant d'attendre le début du coucher du soleil pour certaines tables). La nourriture : italienne, délicieuse, parfaitement assaisonnée ; les sauces sont mémorables. Super carte des desserts. Service impeccable, rapide et convivial. À l'intérieur, ça semblait hyper mignon. Pour une expérience mémorable légèrement en dehors du brouhaha du centre-ville ; je recommande.

Impeccable service. The food, however, was disappointing. We tried a number of plates and the quality varied greatly from plate to plate. 2 were great, others mediocre, and others failed completely. Taste profiles were confusing, and some elements were just bad. For a restaurant of this supposed calibre, all plates should be excellent. While we still enjoyed our evening, this was because of the service and in spite of the food.
