Le Nobu Fifty Seven, premier restaurant fondé par le chef légendaire Nobu Matsuhisa dans le quartier Uptown de New York, a ouvert ses portes à l'été 2005 après beaucoup d'anticipation. Les copropriétaires de Nobu sont ses partenaires de longue date : le célèbre restaurateur Drew Nieporent, l'acteur oscarisé Robert De Niro et le producteur hollywoodien Meir Teper. Le restaurant met à l'honneur une cuisine japonaise signature revisitée par Nobu avec des plats classiques tels que le tiradito style Nobu et la morue noire au miso, ainsi que la table hibachi. Il s'est vu décerner trois étoiles par le New York Times. Conçu par David Rockwell, le Nobu Fifty Seven évoque la fluidité et l'image d'une rivière asiatique avec des courbes, des coquilles d'ormeau aux lustres, des tiges tranchées de bambou sur les carreaux de terrazzo, des tables de frêne brunâtres et des étoffes japonaises matelassées. Des tonneaux de saké importés du Japon se dressent au-dessus du comptoir du bar du 1er étage, tandis que les convives se rendent à la salle à manger située à l'étage. Great place for group dining where the noise level is ok for talking as well. Superb food and service, cool setting! A bit on the pricy side but well worth it!

Unfortunately, I’d have to give this whole experience a 4 or 5 out of 10. The service wasn’t bad; our waiter was attentive and sweet, but the food was just plain and bland. The first time I went to Nobu was at one of their locations in Phoenix, AZ, and it was amazing. The food was delicious, and the drinks were top notch. I wanted to bring my boyfriend to this location to experience the same, but we didn’t get that. The food was subpar, and the drinks were…well just as subpar as the food. The only thing my boyfriend and I thought was worthwhile were the donuts they offered for dessert. Now that was amazing! Overall, I really didn’t expect this. And frankly, I was disappointed. :(

Never disappoints- bit pricy but worth it. We celebrated a birthday and the staff was lovely.

On average it was ok, not what used to be. Definitely over priced for what it is. Still way fun to have a Japanese experience.

So my reservation was booked for the special omakase for 10pm. When I came, the manager told me they stop doing the special omakase 30 minutes before the doors close, which would be 9:45 because doors close at 10:15. I wish they would have put that online, or at the very least had the reservationist that contacted me tell me that so I could make my reservation earlier, given that I wanted to try it and I was celebrating my birthday. Because of that, we couldn’t get to try it and I had to order off the regular menu, which was still great. Nonetheless, the manager kindly comped our desserts as a way to apologize and reconcile their error. If you want the special 30th omakase for the week, then please keep this in mind! Otherwise, dinner was amazing.

The food was excellent but the courses came rather quickly. I would have preferred them to be served with more of a pause between courses. Bar is very noisy and carries into the dining area.
