We are a country Gastropub owned by farmers. Our farm supplies the beef, lamb and pork and we source other ingredients from local producers where we can. Our small seasonal menu changes regularly reflecting what is available in our area. We pride ourselves on being very much a country pub, offering freshly prepared seasonal food and a warm welcome. We also love offering locally produced drinks, such as gins, rums, ales and wines, giving you the complete taste of Sussex.

The Crown is an independently run award-winning freehouse in the heart of Hastings Old Town, open at 11am every day. Our kitchen is open 12-4, 5 till 9. We serve modern British food in a friendly informal environment using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. We create dishes from scratch, including homemade bread, fish from the surrounding seas and seasonal veg.We serve local real ales & craft beers, wine and a specialist gin and whisky selection and delicious coffee.'High Top Tables' refers to our high tables with bar stools. The Royal is operated by James Hickson, who has a solid hospitality background having learned his trade at well-loved restaurants and gastropubs including St John, Great Queen Street, The Canton Arms and Moro. The First In Last Out (FILO), is a family run free-house in the Old Town of Hastings. Alongside our award winning beer, we serve quality food prepared from scratch. Believed to date back to the 17th century the Horse & Groom was originally used to house local farmer workers, with the increase in horse drawn traffic using the old Hastings Road the property was utilised to offer weary travellers a place to rest and stable their horse ready for their onward journey. It then, and has to this date, become known as the Horse and Groom . Free of tie, the pub now offers the traditional country pub fair, set in the glorious surroundings of Rushlake Green, with its picturesque village properties encircling the village green, centre of the villages attraction and host to many winter and summer events. We dined on a very quiet Wednesday evening in this delightfully renovated inn. I'm sure it would be heaving during the day especially at weekends as there were lots of areas outside overlooking the views. Our server was great and we were all pleased with our food having struggled to decide which of the appetizing choices to go for. We hope to go back for a return visit soon.

Seldom do you find such an exellent dinning experience. A great menue with a superb steak & ale homemade pie. Fresh food cooked to perfection. My other guests were delighted.
